9 1ST ARGYLLSHIEE HIGHLANDERS. 25We will now return to follow <strong>the</strong> history <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>1st battalion, which we left in Lewes in 1804.In October, 1805, <strong>the</strong> regiment was reviewedwith o<strong>the</strong>r troops <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> brigade, consisting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>42nd and 92nd, by<strong>the</strong> Commander-in-Chief atBexhill, and were noticed for <strong>the</strong>ir appearanceand discipline.In December <strong>the</strong> order <strong>ca</strong>me for it to embarkfor Hanover, where it was brigaded with <strong>the</strong>26th and 28th Eegiments, under <strong>the</strong> command <strong>of</strong>Major-General Mackenzie Fraser, arrivingBeverstadt on <strong>the</strong> 3rd <strong>of</strong> January, and Hanbergenon <strong>the</strong> 8th. However, <strong>the</strong> general orders, datedBremen, 27th <strong>of</strong> January, stated that <strong>the</strong> kinghad been pleased to re<strong>ca</strong>ll <strong>the</strong> troops from NorthGermany, and that <strong>the</strong>y were to be embarkedimmediately to return to England, which wasdone, and <strong>the</strong> <strong>91st</strong> disembarked at Ramsgate on<strong>the</strong> 20th <strong>of</strong> February, and marched to Faversham,where it was inspected on arrival by Lieutenant-General Sir John Moore, whose satisfaction withits appearance is noted in <strong>the</strong> regimental orders<strong>of</strong> that date.On <strong>the</strong> 17th <strong>of</strong> March <strong>the</strong> <strong>91st</strong> moved to Ashford,and at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> July <strong>the</strong>y were at Shorncliff.On <strong>the</strong> 10th <strong>of</strong> August, H.R.H. <strong>the</strong> Duke <strong>of</strong>at isoe
