St Vincent's Hospice
Precious Minutes
Donations to St Vincent’s Hospice fell
dramatically in 2010 meaning the
hospice ended the year £100,000
short of target. To turn this around the
hospice is launching a ‘Precious
Minutes’ campaign to ask the people
of Renfrewshire to support the
Hospice by donating just £3 to provide
1 minute of care to our patients and
their families. It costs £5,000 to fund
the hospice every day. This breaks
down into £3 per minute.
We really need the support of our local
community to get us out of the red and
back into the black. The income
generated from our fundraising events
and shops has increased this year,
however it is the running costs that
have seen such a dramatic increase.
Even the cost involved in bringing a
patient to our day Hospice has
doubled in cost with the increase of
petrol prices having a huge effect on
our work.

a pound sign and the amount you
want to donate e.g. “SVHP03 £5” to

Forthcoming Events:
Golf Event, Friday 2nd Sept
After a few successful years at Erskine
Golf Club, this year we are moving to
the beautiful course at Elderslie.
Last year was great seeing 30 teams
take part in the day and we are
hoping for the event to be just as
good this year.
Entry fee is £280 for a team of 4.

Provost Ball, Friday 16th Sept
This year the Renfrewshire Provost
Celia Lawson has very kindly
decided to make her charities of the
year the two Hospices of
Renfrewshire - St Vincent's Hospice
and Accord Hospice.
Each year the Provost chooses a
different charity and hosts a series of
events to raise vital funds ending
with the Provost's Autumn Charity
Ball which this year will be held on
Friday 16th September 2011 at Mar
Hall Hotel in Bishopton.
This is sure to be a night not to be
missed with festivities starting with a
wine reception at 6.30pm and
dinner at 7.00pm. The night will
include great entertainment which in
the past has included Keith Jack and
the MacDonald Brothers! There will
also be an opportunity to take part in
a "Grand Prize" draw as well as
bidding on some fantastic items in
the auction.
Tickets are £70 per person and
include a 4 course meal and a bottle
of wine per couple.

Beith Arts Sunday
Concerts – New Season
We are delighted to announce the
opening of another season of Sunday
afternoon concerts on 25th
September, with the Scottish
Clarinet Quartet taking us "Around
the World in Eighty Minutes". These
virtuoso players all studied at the
Royal Scottish Academy of Music
and Drama, and now take their
music all over the country, to great
critical acclaim.
Their programme for us includes
music from many countries, as the
title makes clear, so there should be
variety enough for everyone.
The rest of this season's concerts will
feature music from opera to modern

musical shows,from Dixieland jazz to
classical, from solo singers to choirs,
and from single instrumentalists to
groups.
Details will be published in advance of
each concert, or you can visit our

details of the season's programme. All
concerts take place on Sunday
afternoons at 2.30 p.m. at Beith
Community Centre in Kings Road.
You can pay at the door - adults £8,
concessions £6, students and children
£1. Alternatively you can buy a special
ticket for the whole season, at a very
substantial saving. All comers are
very welcome
LOCHWINNOCH PLAYGROUP
Playgroup would like to thank
everyone who braved the rain to come
and support our fundraising efforts at
the very wet Gala Day in June.
We continued our efforts beyond Gala
Day, so to all those who contributed to
our "Super Ted" game - a big thanks!
The winner of the £25 dinner voucher,
kindly donated by The River Inn,
was John from the Farm Shop. Well
done John - we hope Super Ted is very
happy in his new home!
