Advanced Diploma in ICT<br />

Systems Support – <strong>CCT</strong>108<br />

Course Overv<strong>ie</strong>w<br />

The overall aim <strong>of</strong> this programme leading to the award<br />

<strong>of</strong> Advanced Diploma for S<strong>of</strong>tware Developers, is to<br />

provide its learners with the necessary theoretical and<br />

practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain<br />

a comprehensive intermediate understanding in the<br />

area <strong>of</strong> S<strong>of</strong>tware Development. It is envisioned that<br />

graduates will be able to fulfil a wide range <strong>of</strong> entrylevel<br />

roles within this area, and/or engage in further<br />

study in a wide range <strong>of</strong> areas within Programming and<br />

S<strong>of</strong>tware Development.<br />

Course Content<br />

This programme is delivered over 2 academic semesters,<br />

1 academic year:<br />

Semester 1<br />

Develop Designs and Test S<strong>of</strong>tware Components<br />

Requirements Analysis and Systems Specifications<br />

Develop S<strong>of</strong>tware using SQL<br />

Designing and Creating Advanced Web Sites<br />

Semester 2<br />

Designing and Creating Relational Databases<br />

Creating and Designing Websites Using Web Animation<br />

and Web Graphics<br />

Develop S<strong>of</strong>tware using C++<br />

Develop S<strong>of</strong>tware using Java<br />

Assessment<br />

<strong>CCT</strong> will utilise a var<strong>ie</strong>ty <strong>of</strong> assessment methods to help<br />

ensure that the learning outcomes <strong>of</strong> each subject will be<br />

ach<strong>ie</strong>ved, for example: Written Examination compiled <strong>of</strong><br />

long or short term essays, Objective Tests, Presentations,<br />

Group Projects, Practical Assignments, Oral Examinations<br />

and so on. Assessment will be continuous throughout each<br />

module, with final examinations administered in most <strong>of</strong> the<br />

modules.<br />

Accreditation<br />

This programme is awarded by the globally recognised<br />

awarding body, City & Guilds. This programme is also<br />

included on the Irish Dept <strong>of</strong> Education & Sc<strong>ie</strong>nce,<br />

Internationalisation Register.<br />

Duration / Commencement dates<br />

One academic year. <strong>CCT</strong> usually commences full-time<br />

programmes over 3 intakes per year: February, May and<br />

Course Fees<br />

Please contact the college directly to ascertain the course<br />

fees. Medical insurance for Non-EU nationals is compulsory<br />

and as part <strong>of</strong> the Irish Student Visa requirements and can<br />

be arranged by <strong>CCT</strong> for an additional fee <strong>of</strong> EUR160 for 12<br />

months
