Its unique twosideddesign and the Series 40-styleuser interface make it easy andintuitive to use.The phone side of the terminalfeatures a color display, a convenientkeypad and a user-friendly menu.The sharp, active high-resolution TFTdisplay of the THR880i radio enablesclear and convenient viewing ofimages, graphics and color pictures.The other side, dedicated to radiofeatures only the essential operatingkeys. Managing talk groups is easywith the multimode group selector.The voice feedback enables users towork with the radio without havingto look at it as the radio terminalprompts many of the radio functionsas they are selected, for examplechanging the talk group or switchingto direct mode.The THR880i radio is constructedfrom durable materials and is fittedwith protective seals and bumpersto protect from shocks. Resistantto splash water and dust, the radiomeets the IP55 classification.Integrated GPS improvesefficiencyAn integrated GPS receiver enablespositioning of the radio users basedon their geographical co-ordinates.The radio’s position can betransmitted over the TETRA networkupon request either automatically atcertain time or distance intervals, oras a reply to a single request. Usinga separate positioning application,the unit’s position can be shown ona digital map, allowing command andcontrol to trace and contact field staffbased on their geographical location.

For enchanced user safety, the radiocan be programmed to send detailsof its current or latest position toa predefined address when a redkey call or public emergency call isinitiated. In addition, radio users cansave their positions as waypoints,and send these to other users asshort messages.Delivering information withgreater securityProtecting information security isparamount in mission-criticalcommunications. To ensure thatinformation is delivered only to thoseit is addressed to, the THR880i radiosupports end-to-end encryption,based on smart card. If necessary,communications can be encryptedall the way from the sending unit tothe receiving unit. The smart cardbased encryption provides thehighest level of security, allowingimplementation of organisationspecific encryption algorithms.Enhanced mobilityReliable, real-time access toinformation while on the move isfundamental in today’s professionalcommunications.
