A DEGREE ALONE WILL NOT GUARANTEE YOU A GRADUATE POSITIONFrom August each year the Placement Team arranges for many organisations to visit the CIT and JITMcampus. The one day recruitment drive involves a lengthy and rigorous interview process. Final yearstudents can expect to complete an aptitude test, verbal and numerical tests, a technical test, take part ingroup discussions and be required to present yourself for personal interview with the Human Resource(HR) team. The qualities and skills employers are evaluating you on are:• English (both written and spoken): Meet the required English language needed to perform in abusiness setting.• Technical ability: - Being able to apply technology learnt in class effectively in the work place• Knowledge: - Understanding what you have learnt in class• Generic Skills:- Communication, Teamwork, leadership, problem solving, decision making andself managementEmployers FeedbackAccentureRecruitment process: Written Test, Technical and HR Interview150 students completed the written test and only 15 students were shortlisted.After the technical and HR Interview a total number of 5 students were given offer letters.Employer CommentsStudents preformed poorly in all areas of the recruitment process. Students were unable to complete a testin program writing and flowcharting. They could not communicate effectively, both their written andverbal English was inadequate. One student could not speak a sentence of English properly.Indian NavyRecruitment Process: Students are required to present themselves to the HR team, introduce themselvesand talk for a minute about their hobbies, favourite subject, likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses.Employer Comments:• Disappointed in the students spoken English• General communications skills were poor, students could not answer questions confidently.• Students lacked knowledge about the Navy.What can you do to maximize your chances of obtaining a graduate position?Attend ALL career related classes, workshops and training.The CUTM Training and Development Team are dedicated to helping you achieve your goal of finding agraduate position.
