The first section is Dispatch, whichacts as the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the city ofGarden Grove. It is responsible for answering and evaluatingall incoming 9-1-1 calls for police, fire and medical servicesrequests. Highly trained dispatchers allocate policeresources accordingly and forward other emergency callsto the appropriate handling agency.In addition to daily dispatching duties, the Garden GrovePolice Department also maintains a team of TacticalDispatchers. Tactical Dispatchers are specially trainedto respond with the Garden Grove Police DepartmentSWAT Team to the scene of critical incidents. These speciallytrained dispatchers provide vital functions such as gathering,documenting and disseminating information to the IncidentCommanders and tactical personnel. Currently theGarden Grove Police Department tactical dispatchteam is comprised of three dispatchers. Theirexperience and training aids them in handlinghigh-risk incidents as well as providing dispatchsupport at festivals and other events for whichSWAT Team is deployed.Total Calls155,33650,991The second section, Ordinance Coordination, is206,327 responsible for the administration of many costsaving and cost recovery programs for the City.These programs include false alarm reductions, therecovery of jail booking fees and other programs in place to recovercosts associated with accidents caused by drunk drivers, damageto city property and hazardous spills. One employee, CommunityService Officer Amanda Garner, is solely responsible for all of theseduties. Amanda is an exemplary employee and was recognized in 2011by the Orange County Alarm Association for her devotion to improving communication and partnerships between policedepartments and alarm companies. Amanda was also named Civilian Employee of the Year for the Police Department, inrecognition of her outstanding efforts throughout the year.
