What's going on in Pewsey "BRIGHT HOUR" THURSDAY FELLOWSHIP: We meet in the Wesley Hall, Pewsey at 2.30pm. Open to all denominations, so why not bring a friend to Share in our Fellowship. A warm welcome awaits you followed by a refreshing cup of tea over fellowship. Meetings for March: 3rd with Andrew Thompson, 17th with Rev Michael McHugh and 31st with Rev Gerald Osborne. Supporting Devizes Foodbank: Methodist News: Combined Pewsey Churches COMMUNITY LUNCHES These are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month, usually in the Wesley Hall, at 12.30pm. Anyone who usually eats alone is welcome. If you would like to come along please phone either 564024 or 564029. A collection Box is located in the Wesley Hall Link Entrance, open school term from 10am-12noon. They are currently short of: small bags of sugar, pasta sauces, tinned fruit and tinned vegetables. SOCIETY OF FRIENDS: Quakers Meetings for Worship are held every Sunday at 10.30am at the Friends Meeting House, The Parade, Marlborough (next to the Fire Station). I long to be closer to you. Help me to remember that nothing is important in my life unless it glorifies you in some way. It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day of my life and keep saying, "Tomorrow, I will spend more time in prayer," but now my longing meets your love and I want to do it now. Help me to rely on you for help. The prayer asks you that I reach perfection. Please, Lord, remind me that "perfection" isn't the crazy, "successful" way I try to live my life, but a perfection of my most authentic, real self. My "perfection" might be holding my many flaws in my open hands, asking you to help me accept them. Heal me, Lord, and help me to find you in the darkness of my life. Let me reach out in this darkness and feel your hand and love there to guide me. Pet Blessing Service, Rushall - Sunday 27th March There will be a Pet Blessing Service at St Matthew's Church, Rushall on Sunday 27th March at 11am. The key players at the service will be the children from Rushall Primary School who have been invited to bring their own creatures great and small from hamsters to ponies and all sizes in between. However everyone is welcome: young and old, with or without an animal. There will be a collection in aid of the Blue Cross, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of sick and unwanted pets. www.bluecross.org.uk

They are a great charity doing an outstanding job in desperate situations. Working with people of any or no faith, they channel their effort through local partners, on the ground, where it really matters. They really do make a difference. There will be a couple of short films showing some of the work the charity does; how money collected previously has been used and what we can do this year. Page: 9 Sudan Support Update St Mary’s Church, Upavon Pancake Fair including raffles, lucky dip, cake stall, handicrafts, preserves and LOTS OF PANCAKES! Christian Aid Service The 11am service at St John’s Church, Pewsey, on 20 th March will focus on Christian Aid. This charity has and continues to be supported by people in the Vale of Pewsey. Do come along to find out more about how Christian Aid and its partners are working to bring an end to poverty around the world - tackling its root causes as well as its effects. on Saturday 5 th March 2pm to 4pm in Upavon Village Hall Happy Years’ School The school we are funding in South Sudan is going from strength to strength enabling some of the poorest children in the world to start their education.. More children are enrolling and the second year’s intake started in February. This has meant that the existing school building (a traditional tukul thatched building) has become far too small and a new concrete building is needed. We have sent half of the money needed so that building can begin but we urgently need to raise the rest. To this end we will be holding a number of fundraising events which we hope you will support. The first of these is a Victorian Evening on 2nd April in Alton Barnes. Microfinance project We have also increased our funding to the micro-finance project which gives loans to women to start their own small businesses. The scheme has been extended to other archdeaconries in Nzara Diocese. This has been a real success story as these businesses have helped families to pay for their children’s education.
