PetrochemicalsFor 50 years Elliott has been the world leader in centrifugalcompressors for ethylene production. Nearly 50percent of the world’s ethylene production capabilityuses Elliott compressors. Over 700 Elliott compressorsare installed in ethylene service in more than 100 plantsand more than 60 countries throughout the world. Aspetrochemical production plants grow ever larger insize and capacity, custom-engineered cracked gas,propylene and ethylene compression trains from Elliottcontinue to meet the demand for increased throughputand reliability.Industries & ApplicationsRefiningElliott compressors have been used in critical refinery processes for more than 70 years. As the refining industryhas grown and evolved, Elliott’s compressors and steam turbine drivers have grown and evolved with it. The latestexample is Elliott’s new high-speed, multivalve steam turbine that delivers high efficiency and direct compressordrive in a smaller footprint. Elliott compressors and steam turbine drivers are used worldwide in refinery applicationssuch as hydroprocessing, catalytic cracking and reforming, coking, and alkylation. Thousands of Elliottsingle-valve turbines also drive machinery such as pumps and blowers in refineries everywhere.7

Power GenerationElliott steam turbine generator (STG) sets provide 50kW to 50 MW of renewable, cost-effective power fromexisting steam systems or alternative fuels such asbiomass in completely integrated packages. A typicalsynchronous STG package includes a steam turbine,gear, couplings, generator, baseplate, control systemsand lube console. We can also provide auxiliary systemssuch as electrical switch gear and condensers.Elliott has designed and manufactured steam turbinesfor 100 years. Product LinesCentrifugal CompressorsElliott Group offers a wide range of multistage centrifugalcompressors in horizontally split and verticallysplit “barrel” configurations with pressure ratings upto 10,000 psig and flow ranges as high as 458,700meters³ per hour. All Elliott centrifugal compressorsare designed using Elliott’s scalable EDGE technologythat results in improved aerodynamic performance,reduced power consumption, increased process flexibilityand reduced capital cost. Elliott leads the industryin optimizing compressor performance over a broadrange of pressure and flow applications through theuse of aerodynamic design and analysis resulting inadvanced impeller design, flow channel optimization,and rotor stability enhancements.Axial CompressorsElliott’s axial compressors are often paired with powerrecovery expanders to supply combustion air in theFCC process. These highly efficient machines are wellsuited for high-flow, medium-pressure applicationsbeyond the flow capacity of centrifugal compressors.Elliott’s reliable axial compressors are also used in airseparation plants, blast furnaces, nitric acid plants,synthetic fuel processing and aerodynamic testing.17

Steam TurbinesElliott steam turbines provide the proven reliabilityand high efficiencies that make them the preferredchoice for mechanical and power generation services.Designed and manufactured in compliance with API611 or API 612 specifications, Elliott steam turbinescan be matched to the most demanding processes andapplications. Elliott’s product line includes single-valvesingle-stage, single-valve multistage, and multivalvemultistage turbines with powers up to 140,000 HP andspeeds up to 16,000 rpm.Power Recovery ExpandersIn 1963, Elliott manufactured the first hot gas expanderfor capturing waste flue gas energy from the fluid catalyticcracking (FCC) process. In the decades sincethis engineering breakthrough, Elliott has continuedto lead in the development of new alloys, metallurgicaltreatments and design innovations that result in themost highly reliable and easily maintained expandersavailable. In several instances, Elliott expanders haveremained in operation for more than seven years withthe original set of blades. Elliott’s TH expanders areavailable in four frame sizes and produce up to 60,000HP (45 MW) from the thermal energy in the FCC fluegas stream.Product Lines19
