KIDS <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> BAY would love to spend a morningor afternoon teaching your students about <strong>the</strong>irlocal environment!ExploringThroughScienceWorkshopsOur science workshops engage students in hands-on learningon a variety of topics. They are offered to:after-school and home school programsprivate and public schoolsAll About Water (K-2nd, ages 5-7)Through hands-on activities students learn about <strong>the</strong> water cycle, conductwater experiments and create special salt water art.Soar into <strong>the</strong> World of Birds (K-2nd, ages 5-7)Investigate bird fea<strong>the</strong>rs, beaks and feet. Listen to bird calls and learnwhat foods birds eat and what <strong>the</strong>y need to survive.Watershed Explorations (3rd–5th, ages 8-10)Students learn about <strong>the</strong> San Francisco <strong>Bay</strong> and conduct hands-onscience experiments and activities that engage <strong>the</strong>m with <strong>the</strong>ir localwatershed. Students explore <strong>the</strong> significance of storm drains, investigate differenttypes of pollution and take action by conducting a neighborhood clean-up.The Wonderful World of Worms (Preschool–5th, ages 3-10)Have you ever held a red wiggler worm in your hand, or wondered how compost ismade? Students will learn all about compost and <strong>the</strong> organisms that help organicmatter decompose, and will investigate live red wiggler worms! KftB can also helpyou set up your own worm compost bin so you can recycle your food scraps.<strong>Bay</strong> or Creek Discovery Field Trip (K–5th, ages 5-10)In our field trip program, students explore unique aquatic ecosystems at creek and<strong>Bay</strong> shoreline habitats. Each experience involves close-up, hands-on encounters withnature. In this three-hour presentation, young scientists will investigateplants and animals that live in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>, create a three-dimensional <strong>Bay</strong> model and conduct scientific experimentsto learn about estuary ecology.Want to extend <strong>the</strong> learning?Field Trip: In addition to <strong>the</strong> three-hour presentation, KIDS <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> BAY will lead a field trip to a creek or<strong>Bay</strong> habitat with hands-on learning in <strong>the</strong> outdoors.Action Project: Empower your students to make a difference! KIDS <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> BAY will work with your studentsto conduct an action project that helps protect <strong>the</strong> local environment.Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Rot!Ever wonder where our garbage goes, or what happened to that plastic water bottle you recycled? In thisthree-hour presentation students will dive into <strong>the</strong> world of garbage and learn easy and practical ways to use<strong>the</strong> Four Rs and make less waste. Young scientists will investigate red wiggler worms and compost, analyzewasteful packaging, and make recycled paper.Want to extend <strong>the</strong> learning?Additional Presentation: KftB will deepen <strong>the</strong> learning experience by leading an additional three-hourpresentation. Students will build <strong>the</strong>ir own model landfills and learn about natural resource conservation.Action Project: Empower your students to make a difference!
