Tacoma Swiss Community Flyer Spring Edition
March 1, 2011
SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 2011 — THE MAS-
QUERADE DINNER and DANCE sponsored
by the SLS. A favorite tradition with a Bratwurst
dinner (and all the fixings), will be
served between 5:30—7:30 p.m. ADVANCED
TICKET SALES PREFERRED. Tickets are
available at SLS meetings and cost $15.00 per person (12
and under are free). Admission to the dance following dinner
is $10.00 (free if you are fully masked). TO COMPETE FOR
PRIZES ADULTS MUST BE FULLY MASKED AND IN THE
HALL BEFORE THE GRAND MARCH, WHICH BEGINS
SHARPLY AT 8:00 P.M.! A changing room is available.
Everyone is encouraged to come in costume even if not competing.
Swiss dancing will follow. (Ladies—Please get your
prize procurement letters early. Procurement letters are
available at every meeting. Call a board member if you
need more information.)
CARD PARTY: Sunday, March 6, 2011, 1:00
p.m., sponsored by the SLS. Card playing will start
promptly at 1:00 p.m. The entry fee is $6.00. Bring
your friends and family for a fun afternoon of “Jass”, “pinochle, or
poker. Bring your own games to share or there is always room at
the Bunco Tables!
CRAB FEED & DANCE: Friday, March 18, 2011,
6:30—8:30 p.m. & Saturday, March 19, 2011,
6:30—8:30 p.m., sponsored by the SSCT. This
event has reserved seating and tickets will have table numbers
assigned. Dancing follows with the Idol Eyez Band.
Dinner cost $35.00 per person. Contact Marcus

EASTER EGG HUNT & HAM SHOOT:
Sunday, April 17, 2011 sponsored jointly by
SLS, SSCT, and TSS. Ham Shoot starts at
10:00 a.m. Easter Egg Hunt at 2:00 p.m. Separate areas
for various age groups. The Easter Bunny will be
there!
MANNERCHOR DINNER & CONCERT: Saturday, April 30,
2009 (Dinner at 5:30 p.m. and Concert at 7:30 p.m.), sponsored
by the SSCT. The Mannerchor and guest Enzian Ladies Choir
(Tacoma) will perform. Dance to follow at 8:30 p.m. to the music
of the Swiss Alpiners. Tickets $18.00 per person, children
under 12 free. ADVANCE TICKET SALES ARE REQUIRED.

SWISS LADIES’ MOTHER DAY & DAUGHTER
TEA LUNCHEON and Meeting—Saturday, May 7,
2011, 12:00 Noon, sponsored by SLS, in the Shootzen Haus.
Lunch and tea will be served by the Enzian Ladies’ Choir followed
by a short meeting. Please bring a teacup for yourself and your
guest. Reservations are required by April 30th. Please call any
SLS board member listed on Page #3 to reserve your place today!

SPRING SCHWINGFEST: Saturday,
June 18, 2011 sponsored by the
SSCT. Cost is $5.00, including
dance—No refunds. Children 12 and
under are free. Gate opens at 10:00
a.m. and Schwinger registration starts
at 11:00 a.m., followed by competition beginning at noon for
all wrestlers. Steinstossen competition follows. The kitchen
and bar will open at 12:00 noon. The evening dance begins at
7:30 p.m. to the John Faver Orchestra. The Award Ceremony
for the Schwingers will begin about 10:30 p.m. The Kitchen
will close at 10:00 p.m. and the Bar at 1:00 a.m.
SSCT MEMBER’S SHOTGUN MEDAL SHOOT:
Sunday, June 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. sponsored
by the SSCT. You must be a SSCT, or associated
Swiss Club Member, to compete for a
medal. There is no fee to come into the park.
FIRST OF AUGUST “BUNDESFEIER”:
Sunday, July 31, 2009, 2:00 p.m., Swiss Park,
Bonney Lake. Sponsored by the SSCT, SLS,
and TSS. Come celebrate the Swiss Independence
with a wonderful afternoon. The Swiss Kids
Kamp will present a great stage show that will remind
you of days past and there are different relay games on
the front lawn for young and old to enjoy.
ATTENTION: TACOMA SWISS SOCIETY SCHOLAR-
SHIP PROGRAM. Swiss fathers who have students
interested in attending college, and could apply for a
scholarship in the future, need to consider joining the
Tacoma Swiss Society, as membership is a prerequisite
to submit an application for a scholarship. Anyone interested
in joining the Tacoma Swiss Society can obtain
more information or an application by contacting any
TSS board member listed on Page #3.

13th KIDS SWISS KAMP:
Wednesday through Sunday,
July 27—31, 2011. For children
ages 8 to 14 inclusive.

The purpose of the Kamp is
to teach our young people
the culture and traditions of Switzerland and learn
about their ethnic heritage. Our Kamp begins
Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. (Please feed your child
dinner on Wednesday, July 28th). Your child will be
staying overnight with us, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
nights. Classes will be held all day Thursday, Friday,
Saturday and Sunday morning. On Sunday at
about 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon we will have a special
parade and program to celebrate “SWISS INDE-
PENDENCE”. Your child will be participating and producing
this celebration and we invite you to bring the
whole family out for this wonderful afternoon. The
SLS will have the kitchen open with hamburgers and
hotdogs and other good things to eat. There will be
games to play for both adults and children following
the parade and program. PLEASE ENCOURAGE
THE CHILDREN IN THEIR LEARNING AND BRING
YOUR FAMILY FOR AN AFTERNOON FULL OF
SWISS ENTERTAINMENT, FOOD AND FUN. During
Kamp your child will be introduced to Swiss History,
theater, Swiss language, music, instruments,
wood working, sports, flag throwing, handiwork, painting,
Swiss games, dancing as well as baking, cooking
and eating Swiss foods! Breakfast, lunch and dinner
will be provided Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and
breakfast and lunch will be provided on Sunday.
Space for your child will be by reservation only,
please complete the reservation form found on page 4
of this flyer. The maximum number of children able to
participate is 60. The total cost per child will be
$25.00. We will supply all of your child’s entertainment
needs! We will provide an adult for every five
children and a trained staff will be available to assist
with medical needs. If you would like to help—please
call the Joe or Louise Hospenthal at 253-896-2593.
Your child will need to bring the following items only:
�Sleeping bag, pillow and foam or air mattress
�Towel and personal hygiene items (toothbrush,
toothpaste, comb, etc., absolutely NO hairdryers or
curling irons!).
�Underwear and socks for four days, and pajamas
�Jeans and shorts
�Long and short sleeved shirts
�Sweatshirt and jacket
�Tennis shoes, flip-flops or sandals
