Barnardo’s is the UK’s leading children’s charity its a national organisation, operating locally in UK and Eire through over 390 community based
projects. Today Barnardo’s works with over 132,000 children, young people and their families in urban and rural communities every year, enabling
the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children to overcome issues such as poverty, abuse, homelessness, bereavement, discrimination and
disability.
Barnardo’s believes that all children and young people have the right to be part of communities, groups and activities which improve their lives giving them a better start in life.
Their projects are based in both urban and rural communities, working alongside local people and groups to regenerate poor areas, reduce crime and create safer, healthier
communities for children and their families.

16+ Edinburgh Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This project provides accommodation and support for young people who are moving
on from the care of Edinburgh City Council. It provides vital support to enable the
young people to live in the community on their own who in the past have been in
Local Authority care, in the Edinburgh area.
Blackford Brae Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This project provides day school education and family support services for children
aged 5 to 12 years with educational and behavioural difficulties from Edinburgh and
the Lothians.

Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This project provides support to help children remain within or return to their local
school. Used by children aged 5-12 years
Blackford Brae Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This project provides day school education and family support services for children
aged 5 to 12 years with educational and behavioural difficulties from Edinburgh and
the Lothians.
Bo'ness Education & Family
Support Service
Bo'ness West Lothian Bo’ness Education & Family Support Service aims to work alongside families,
children and young people to actively promote opportunities for good childhood
experiences, challenge disadvantage and exclusion and help children and their
carers to achieve their full potential within the context of their family and
community.
CHOSI 8(2)12 Motherwell North Lanarkshire This project provides a service to children (aged 8 - 12 years) who are experiencing
difficulties at home, in school, in the community and their families.
Caern Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This project provides a range of support services which include short term
residential breaks and support at home. This service is primarily for Children who
have a learning disability and who may also have additional physical and emotional
problems.

Cluaran Service Falkirk Falkirk This project provides flexible programmes, including education, to help divert young
people from being inappropriately accommodated or placed in a residential school. It
works with young people aged 11 to 16 years from the Falkirk council area.
Family Placement Services Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This project provides a fostering service to children with a range of special needs
who are unable to stay with their birth families. An additional initiative also provides
a specialist fostering service to children and families from minority ethnic
communities. The Project is also able to offer Psychotherapeutic services to children
and adolescents.
Freagarrach (Persistent
Young Offenders Project)
Falkirk
Falkirk Falkirk This project provides programmes to divert persistent young offenders aged 12-16
from care or custody. Also offers programmes to divert 16-18 year old offenders
from the Criminal Justice System.
Hazel Grove Livingston West Lothian This project supports families with children aged 11 and under in West Lothian
through a range of services. These include: Assessment and intensive support to
parents/carers with children at risk.
Lecropt School and Family
Support Service
Falkirk Falkirk This project provides community-based education and family support to children and
young people aged between 5 and12 years with educational and social difficulties.
Lighthouse Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This service is aimed at changing the behaviour of young people with sexually
challenging and problematic behaviour. Also aims to improve the protection for all
young people by helping families and communities reduce risks presented by these
young people.
RAFT (Residential and
Families Together)
Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This project provides residential care for children aged 5 to 12 years who have had
multiple placement breakdowns and for whom immediate family placement is
unsuitable. Helps children work through past experiences and prepare them for their
next placement. Family finding and ongoing support to the child and carers.

Skylight Edinburgh Edinburgh, City of This project supports children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse
and are being looked after by the local authority or living at home. It provides direct
intervention and support, as well as consultancy and training for carers and
professionals on the impact of sexual abuse.
West Lothian Family Support
Team
Bathgate West Lothian This project provides disability services to children\young people, with significant
learning, physical or sensory impairment, including complex health needs. Services
include holiday childcare involving personal care and leisure activities. It also
provides Family Support Services to parents and carers of children and young people
who access the disability service through needs assessment and provides Short
Breaks Services to parents and carers of children\young people who access the
disability service through home sitting and activity sessions.
