It was an excellent opportunity for <strong>the</strong> studentsto spend <strong>the</strong> day learning about and participating in various aspects of drama witho<strong>the</strong>r drama students <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> district. Students participated in workshops suchas: Acting for Television, Improv, Stand-up Comedy, Shakespeare, Stage Makeupand Directing. Guest speaker Carl Paynejump-started <strong>the</strong> evening with a presentation on both<strong>the</strong> apprenticeship and volunteer work experienceprograms offered to Burnsview students; interestedbusinesses are invited to contact Mr. Payne (<strong>the</strong>information handout will be posted on <strong>the</strong> PAC webpages). <strong>Principal</strong> Christine Johnson and our DPACrepresentative, Susan Creighton, brought <strong>the</strong> ga<strong>the</strong>ringup to date regarding <strong>the</strong> Portfolio issue(http://www.bccpac.bc.ca/whats_new/Whats_New.htm ).Thank you to past Portfolio participants, Alex Hughesand Ashley Plitong, for sharing both <strong>the</strong>ir views andexperiences while in <strong>the</strong> program. Ask your children about what <strong>the</strong>y’re doing on-line: Do<strong>the</strong>y blog? Do <strong>the</strong>y have a MySpace.com account? Do<strong>the</strong>y chat via instant messaging? Know who your children are talking to on-line. Ask <strong>the</strong>mto describe each person on <strong>the</strong>ir “buddy list” with MSNMessenger, for example.
