President’s Message
The long awaited month of May is here. It
marks the beginning of the car show season
and cruise night at Culvers. The month
starts off with the Northeast High School
car show on May 5 th and will finish out with
the Hot Rod Supernationals on May 26 th and
27 th . Don't forget to hand out the $2.00
off coupons and mark the bottom E 1 4. This
will give the Rebels $1.00 credit for each
coupon card. If you don't have any, and
want some, get a hold of me or Jim or Scott.
Thanks to all those who showed up for troop
packages. I was not able to make this one
for personal reasons. It's good that we can
continue to support our troops.
There were several of us making the trek to
Kearney to see the Car Collection Museum.
It's a must see. There were lots of restored,
older vehicles and easy to read
placards in front of every car. There were
over 140 cars in the collection, with room
to add another 15 cars.
Check the Coordinator's Report in the newsletter
for upcoming events. We will try to
keep you informed of all the shows coming
up. Don't forget to sign up to volunteer
for the Rebels' Car Show. We still need
help.
Thanks again for Craig Foster and his quiz
on Mopars. You'll have to show up at the
next meeting to see what Craig, or someone
else, will have for a short presentation. I
find them very interesting and educational.
Don't forget we will have another sock hop
at Jim's shop on May 25 th . Bring a covered
dish and we will provide the main dish.
Bill Masters will have his Karaoke machine
for anyone wishing to show off their talent.
Enjoy the warm temps of May and see you on
the road soon!
Our Sunday cruise to view the Classic
Car Collection in Kearney, NE turned
out to be a great time. We headed out
onto I-80 at 10:00 a.m. from Shoemakers
and got to Freddy's Frozen Custards
and Steakburgers in Grand Island
around 11:30. We had Steakburgers,
Chicago hot dogs and yummy concrete's.
From Freddy's we headed over to HWY
30 to finish our trip to the museum. The
car collection is located in a building on
the east side of Cabella's and Sunday
was their Grand Opening. There were
lot s great looking cars. The building is
lined with murals and displays reflecting
the eras of the cars in each area.
One of the displays is set up as a drivein
theater that brought back some
goooood memories. My first date with
Bruce was to a drive-in movie to see
"Blazing Saddles." He loves westerns.
Many of the cars are on loan from their
owners for display in the museum. It
was quite a collection.
After spending about 2 1/2 hours looking
at and talking about the cars, we took
off. Some headed for home to other activities
and twelve of us headed for
Benedict, Nebraska, which is just North
of York, for a fried chicken dinner at
PK's. Great choice. We all thanked Jim
Holstein for recommending that place.
We all had a great time and are looking
forward to the next Rebels adventure.
