Hello all my loves! Hopefully everyone has recovered from the safari and settled in back their normal exchange life. :) I wrote my last report just before the big safari, so now I have to tell about it! The whole three weeks were absolutely the best weeks of my whole year and probably my whole life! The whole experience was so great! So anyway, for us the safari started from Port Macquarie, where our district met and we travelled together down to Canberra. In Canberra the whole safari group met and we spent the first night there. From Canberra we started to head down to Melbourne, on the way we stayed in place called Bendigo which was a gold mining town, and we visited an old mine, it was so interesting to see how it all worked! When we got to Melbourne, it was the same weekend as the F1 race was there, so the whole city was full of fans. We had one day free time in the city and we spent it just going around and seeing a couple of places, such a nice day! From Melbourne we went to see the Great Ocean Road and the 12 apostles, they were so beautiful! Such an amazing view! After Melbourne and the 12 Apostles we were slowly starting to head up to central Australia. The way there was so long, I couldn't believe how long distances we drove! After many days driving in the bus we were finally on the top of Uluru! It was such a great feeling when we got to the top, the climbing was so exhausting and tiring, but when we finally got there it was so beautiful! We stayed in Alice Springs a couple of nights and then we flew to tropical Cairns. Can't believe how different it was, one and an half hours in the plane and we were in tropics, so humid and different! In Cairns we went to see waterfalls and rainforests. The second day in Cairns was one of the highlights of the whole trip, we went to see the Great Barrier Reef! We had a day at the reef, scuba diving and snorkeling, it was so amazing!!! From Cairns we went to Airlie Beach and there we did ocean rafting and visited Whitsunday Islands. The beach what we saw there was like a paradise, I couldn't believe I was there! So relaxing and a nice day. Next highlight of the trip was Byron Bay, which was an awesome little surf town, full of hippies and surfers, the place was so great! So chilled and cool! There we had a surfing lesson and free time in the town. From Byron Bay we drove to Sydney, that was so long day in the bus! We had two nights in Sydney and one day free time, it was the Good Friday so the whole city was shut, that was so weird to see Sydney that empty! Anyway that was the whole safari roughly, the best time ever!!!! Loved it!
G’day mates! What an amazing month, I don’t know where to start. The “rock to reef” tour with a bus filled with other exchange student’s it was so awesome! I had the time of my life. Our trip started in Port Macquarie with only students from <strong>9650</strong> on the bus, that soon changed and we met friends we will have for life. At Sydney airport we picked up D9830 and in Canberra we picked up D9710. After a long trip we arrived in Bendigo which is an old mining town and we actually went down one of the mines. After this we went to Melbourne which is a very big city and we had free time to do shopping and that kind of stuff. After a couple of days we went to Coober Pedy and learned heaps of stuff about Australian Opal. Curtin Springs and Ayers Rocks were next, climbing the amazing Uluru/Ayers Rock and had a fantastic couple of days there. At this stage of the tour we were all friends and enjoyed each other’s company, even after so many hours on the bus we still managed to stay calm and have a friendly tone, not many were grumpy. Arriving in Cairns was a huge contrast from the very dry inland country. Wet rainforest and ocean was something we haven’t seen in a while! At Cairns we scuba dived and snorkeled around and in The Great Barrier Reef for a whole day. After this we went and did even MORE snorkeling close to Whitsunday Island! The Whitehaven Beach an incredible beach... When we had been wet for a while it was time to drop in to one of the old beef farms in Australia. At “The Old Station” I managed to whip myself on the back… that was pretty painful! Sunshine coast and the theme park Dream World was a very joyful day. We all had heaps fun! This was the “start of the end of the trip” heading down to Sydney we all realized that the dream was about to end. Cruising around Sydney and Bondi Beach was just wonderful and staying at the YHA we met heaps of people and really had some good days together. Good leaders and crew made the enjoyment even better! I don’t regret a cent of the money that got spent on the Safari. Such an amazing adventure… THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR MAKING THIS THE BEST THREE WEEKS OF MY LIFE! lots of love..
