From: The Director of MusicP F RobinsonEmail: pfr@birkenheadschool.co.uk30 August 2013Dear AllAs you may be aware, <strong>Les</strong> Misérables is coming to <strong>Birkenhead</strong> <strong>School</strong> in March 2014!Here is some further information about auditions, which will take place during the firstweek of term.Audition informationThere will be a meeting at 12.45 on Tuesday 3 rd September in the Bushell Hall foranyone who is interested in auditioning to be on stage. During this meeting, you willfind out more about the commitment required and learn a couple of short sections ofmusic from the show.Auditions will then take place at after school on Wednesday and Thursday from 4.00-6.00. You will need to attend one of these sessions.The first part of the auditions will be for chorus parts (those who would not like to singany solos!) and will involve you singing part of the song you learned on Tuesday, eitheron your own or in a small group with piano. You will most likely be finished by around4.30, but are very welcome to then stay and watch the rest of the session.


If you would like to audition for a solo part, you will need to also prepare a song (or asection of a song) from <strong>Les</strong> Mis, and expect some sight-reading.Rehearsal informationA detailed rehearsal schedule is being put together, but as a guide, rehearsals will takeplace at the following times:Tuesday 12.40-1.15 Full cast (music rehearsal)Thursday 11.20-12.40 Sixth Form ‘Beyond the Curriculum’ slot (all SixthForm, including backstage and technical team)Thursday 12.40-1.15 Full castSunday 2.00-5.00 Full castSolo rehearsals will be arranged as necessaryObviously, not everyone will be needed for all of those times, and you will be able towork out from the schedule when it is published exactly when you are required.Further details about the musical can be found here:http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000226, and you can find a detailedlist of parts available (including vocal ranges) by clicking on the Casting tab.Please do email if you have any questions, and I hope to see lots of you next week.Enjoy the final few days of the holiday!P F Robinson
