Community Centre UPDATEOver the last several months the Township has beenworking on an extensive renovation to the Oro-MedonteCommunity Centre. Highlights of the renovationinclude:• An enlarged ice surface, increasing to an NHL-size85’ X 200’ from the existing 80’x 180’;• New enlarged dressing rooms with stick holders,water bottle filling stations, and radiant in-floorheating;• New plumbing, electrical, sanitary, mechanical, andrefrigeration systems;• New entrance way and enlarged lobby/warmviewing area;• Accessibility improvements in the dressing roomsand lobby;• A dedicated dressing room for females;• A meeting room adjacent to the Banquet Hall;• Increased space for facility operations;• A rink divider and a mini stick area.As with any renovation of this magnitude, unforeseenissues present risks that can impact what was anaggressive timeline for completion of the project. Despitetaking proactive measures to mitigate these risks,unfortunately a number of issues and opportunities thatcould not be overlooked have pushed back the project’santicipated completion date to December, with phased-inoperations to follow.The Township is very excited to have these upgradesand changes taking place and to provide ourcommunity with an enhanced facility that you can beproud of.
