Gardenia subacaulis - Originates f rom<br />
Zambia. This Gardenia produces v ery large<br />
underground stems (known as lignotubers) to<br />
be able to <strong>with</strong>stand v eld f ires. Flowers v ery<br />
similar to our indigenous Gardenia thunbergii.<br />
Gardenia brachythamnus - A little known<br />
species f rom Zimbabwe, Zambia and<br />
Mozambique.<br />
Otacanthus caeruleus - Brazillian snapdragon.<br />
Free branching spreading small shrub <strong>with</strong><br />
bluish mauv e f lowers <strong>with</strong> white ey e. Leav es<br />
are v ery f ragrant resembling pine scent.<br />
Ev erbloomer. Pref ers acid soil.<br />
Voacanga thouarsii - A medium much<br />
branched tree of up to 15m. The beautif l,<br />
f ragrant white f lowers are carried in heads<br />
between the glossy green leav es mainly in<br />
summer. Very interesting f ruit are produced<br />
af ter the f lowers are pollinated.<br />
