Chadsia grevei - Elegant species endemic to<br />
subarid thickets and woodlands of Toliara,<br />
Madagascar between 0-500m elev ation. Looks<br />
v ery delicate but is actually quite drought<br />
tolerant. Heads of long orange-red f lowers in<br />
spring.<br />
Fernandoa madagascariensis - This small<br />
tree has bright red trumpet-shaped f lowers. An<br />
outstanding f lowering tree in warmer climates.<br />
Can handle colder weather but no f rost.<br />
Stereospermum euphorioides - Tree of up<br />
to 20-30m. Flowers in groups, up to 8cm in<br />
diameter, whitish pink. Summer f lowering.<br />
Alluaudia ascendens - Octopus Tree,<br />
sometimes also called lemur trees as the<br />
lemurs hop f rom one to another in the dry<br />
f orrests of Madagascar. These should not be<br />
conf used <strong>with</strong> Alluay dia procera which is<br />
commenly av ailable in South Af rica. Can grow<br />
