The improved site willbe much easier to navigate with clearlydefined and colour-coded sections underthe headings of tourism, environment,marina, living, historical, what’s on,economy and civic. The site will containmuch more information on the Boroughand, not least its historical significance,offering residents the opportunity toconveniently purchase chargeableCouncil services on-line. Employees, DavidAnthony and Rab Mogey, not onlyworked in Thiepval Wood and in thetrenches, but also helped to restore across erected beside the monumentto the French dead, in memory ofthe Irish soldiers who fell on FrenchSommeAssociationvolunteerspictured in theFrench villageof Guillemont.ground during the First World War. Therestoration work involved cleaning ofthe approaches, painting of the gatesand restoration of the stone, under theguidance of Carol Walker, Director ofthe Somme Association.
