We see the sun rise,People change before our eyes.In our time together we spend,Growing, learning, meeting new friends. The friends we meet are forever,We know we will always stay together. We have a lot of memories here,People come from far and near. We'll think back about joy, not sorrow,This has prepared us for a better tomorrow.-There will always be things to remind us,The things we have long left behind us.The last day our friends will wipe our weeping eyes,For they understand and sympathize.Just a glimpse in time no matter how small it may be,Just gives us a better way to spend eternity. We'll look back and see all that we've done,F9r off in the distance the setting sun.- Tondra Dennis4

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGETime! What a relentless controller of our existence! Moving slowly when we want it to gofast then fleeting by at incredible speeds when we wish that it would slow down. This yearat Blue Mountain Academy has been controlled by this dictator. However, as you leafthrough the pages of this book I pray that they will bring back memories of time well spent- of times of encouragement; of tough times endured; of joyous times experienced; oftimes with Jesus...There were times when we felt like the school year would never end. There were timeswhen we wished the moments would slow down so that we could savor their sweetness. But all came together to form one year of our lives. This year, for me, has been a special one at Blue Mountain Academy. I have been able towatch the class that were freshmen when I arrived at B.M.A. become one of positive, spiritual leadership. I have experienced the warmth of friendships that have developedover four years and felt the pull of heartstrings when good-byes are said. I pray that as youlook back on this year you, too, will be filled with positive memories that will overshadowthe bad times and negative experiences that were certain to have come.May this year have been used by us to bring us closer to our Father so that our time onearth will take us to the timelessness of eternity.Sincerely,Stan RousePrincipal7

FOURYEARIt's been four long years, and we havefinally succeeded in what we have beenstriving for all along. We have met themark and now we have crossed over intoa place where there's no return. Asfreshmen, we received mcire pity thanpraise as well as a lot of breaks. Oursophomore year, we were one step aheadbut still two steps behind the real thing. As juniors - "Upper classmen," wewere getting practice for the real thing. Our senior year is a mixture of emotion, happy for what is to come and sad forwhat we leave behind. We met a lot offriends along the way. And next yearwhen we are gone, you'll remember allthe things we gave to you - our friendship, laughter, and tears. And if youwonder what we got from you, that'ssimple, it was LOVE.The Senior Class Officers and SponsorsPRESIDENT - MichelleAvery ·VICE PRESIDENT - LilyMendezSECRETARY - Cristy PetersonTREASURER - Cami LockettPASTOR- Jeremy WoodruffSGT. We have worked real hard for the past eight years of our lives and now thisyear we took on a new challenge. We became freshmen. We took on a newrobe of responsibility, and we have carried it well. There were times whenwe wanted to take it off, but now we don't notice it as much as before. Infact, we have become quite comfortable with it on. CAFETERIAMrs. Slater's DinerThe few, the proud, the CAFE WORKERS!A place where most of us can be found 2-3 times a day is in the cafeteria. It's a place to go to nourish our young bodies! The cafe is more than that. It'sone of the most popular hang-outs on campus. People probably do moresocializing here than in the gym. It's a place where you can sit down andspend some time talking to a friend that you don't get to see muchthroughout the day. Some of us are usually in a hurry to make it to a classon time. That can get frustrating at times. Luckily, most of us have at leastone meal where we can take time to let our frustration out, laugh, andshare parts of our day. It's great to be a family!"Kathy and Elizabeth, whatARE you looking at?!"56

LIFE IN UNRUH HALLRA'sNoble, MarkValles, LuisWoodruff, JeremyDEANSMesaric, MikeSantee, Kelly (assistant)Dorm life! How can you define it? Well, I guess everyonehas his own definition. Here are some I stumbledonto.Definition #1 - "Dorm life isn't just studying, it'stime to get closer to friends and make memories."Definition #2- "Being with a family of 70 plus guys, noodles in a hot pot, guitars, sleeping in on Sundays, pillow fights on Saturday nights, spending time withyour roommate, discussing theories with friends, shower lines, fun."Definition #3 - "Dorm life to me is a new experience. It's always exciting, something always going on, talkingwith good friends, and making new ones, getting toknow God better."Definition #4 - "When I think of dorm life, I think ofhiding my walkman and praying during class - if Iknew a roomsearch was going on- that no one wouldfind it."This was about all of the information I could squeezefrom my unwilling subjects. Names have been withheldto protect the innocent and guilty as well.58

Ohhh!!! The blinding light is staring you right in the face, and you know what time it is. 5:00a.m., you know anotherday in the life of an Unrah Hall resident has begun. Yousleepily slither out of bed to turn off the light and bringrelief to your aching eyes. Now is the time for a majordecision- should you crawl back in bed, and get that extrahour of sleep, or should you beat the lines in the showerroom and take an early shower. Of course not, you hop backinto your bed and wait for the fifteen minute warning forbreakfast. After scurrying through a quick shower, it's off tobreakfast, which is always tasty, and then classes. The onlytime you see the dorm during the day is that brief momentwhen you change out of your school clothes into yourgrubbies for work ... It seems like time is almost standingstill. You think to yourself, will the Dean ever finish theannouncements, so that worship will be over? Then thedoors are opened, and there is a mad dash upstairs forlaundry change, and to loiter in the halls and lobby. "Oneminute until studyhall" is announced over the PA system, and a quiet falls over the dorm. After completing that lasthomework assignment, you drowsily slump into bed toawait the start of another interesting day in the men's dorm."Wow! Look at thosefish!"}annie trying to impressGeorge with his "martialarts" skills.Ricky! Are you going toshave your whole face?!59

iving with a bunch of girls in a dorm is an experience notasily forgotten. Whether it's the girl you roomed with or theirls who took a shower for longer than a half hour and youere late for class, or the phones were all busy with girls whoaid "One more minute!" over and over again. Or Mrs.artman and her famous notes. Racing for dorm worship onriday night with one minute to spare and you forgot you haveo wear a skirt. Or you remember when the door closes in yourace that your key is on the dresser. Maybe you wake up in theorning sick, too late to get on sick list. You've finally foundsomething wear and it needs to be ironed ... someone is usingone of the irons and the other ones don't work! You hear aman on your floor - you look out to see who it is and it's justanother one of the maintenance guys. You need a dime to doyour wash and everyone you ask just has nickels. The fact thatyou still jump when the alarms are accidentally set off duringstudyhall and you call the Dean "Mom" by accident ... thisand all the other reasons are why our home away from homeis so sweet.61

They tumble together with grace and style! They make it alllook so easy. We know that that's not really true. It takes alot of time and effort to perfect gymnastics. There's nothinglike starting out on the right foot. The Aerial Aires do thisby starting each class with a devotional thought and prayer. Then they get right into their warm-ups, which consist of alot of stretching and exercise. Afterwards, they start towork on their routine. Doing the routines takes a lot ofwork and cooperation. It's team work that makes it allhappen. Performing their tumbling routines aren't all theteam members do. During their trips, they take time out forpeer counseling. Letting kids know that smoking, drugs, and alcohol are not healthy and it's OK to say NO! They'remaking their captain - Jesus - very proud.95

A good game of"knock out" is alwaysfun. Are you looking for us?8AsKET8ALLOne may wonder why so many peopleenjoy throwing a ball through a hoop.It seems like such an easy sport, but tothe students here at BMA (particularlythe guys) it's a way of life. Rec. time onSunday and any free period, people areplaying basketball. Some say it's exciting, aerobic, and yes, even competitive.Others like it because there'snothing better to do. Whether you'reon a team or not, I'm sure you've allshot at least one basket. Is it stuck?98

This year's Union Leadershipwas held at Laurel Lake Camp in Rossiter, PA. Sleeping inthe cabins and taking showers with the mosquitos didn'tbother them at all. They were much too involved with theirtheme, "Catch the Vision." Throughout the weekend theyhad communication workshops where they had a chance todiscuss plans and ideas, editor to editor and president topresident. They learned and shared their leadership qualities, which were greatly appreciated to all! It wasn't allwork and no play! Saturday night there were games foreveryone to participate in. They played everything fromwink 'em to something more challenging like trying to fit anentire team on a small rug. Back with more spirit than whenthey left, our fearless leaders shared their experiences withus. Then put what they learned into a lot of hard work andaction ... it's been a great year!106

ICare AboutMyGrades.JOHN STODDART, freshman music and business major. That's why I chose CUC. A Christianeducation is important to me. but so areacademics. I checked around. and foundout that CUC was the only Adventistcollege that required a minimum gradepoint average of 2.5 for admission. That'shigher than any other Adventist college. At CUC. I'll get scholarships for keepingmy grades up. I'll be inducted into nationalhonor societies that recognize academicachievement. And I'll use Washington'sresources for serious study Because I thinkacademics are important. And so doescue.COLUMBIA UNION COLLEGE7600 Flower Avenue . 1akoma Park.
