SERIES GPSecurity GrillesIntroductionGilberts GP series presents a range of perforated facegrilles designed for air supply, extract and transferapplications in high security areas such as Prisons, CellBlocks and Remand Centres.Manufactured to meet both Home Office and Ministry ofJustice guidelines there are two specification levels. Thestandard GPS series (Ministry of Justice specification)comprises of a 2mm stainless steel fascia perforated with3mm dia holes on a staggered 5mm pitch. The enhancedGPP series (Home Office specification for Police use)comprises of a 2mm stainless steel fascia perforated with2mm dia holes at 4mm centres on a triangular pitch. Theenhanced GPP design is compulsory where policespecifications apply. Please check with the buildingauthority to confirm specification requirements. For allunits the face is cross crimped to create a tough yetattractive unit with maximum tamper resistance.Units are fixed either with a maximum security rear boltfixing providing n o access from the face or, for mediumand lower security areas with non removable ‘clutch’screws through the flange.TYPE GPS1 & GPP1 - Air supply or extract unit complete with plenum and maximum security rear bolt fixing.TYPE GPS2 & GPP2 - Air supply or extract grille facia only complete with security clutch screw fixing throughthe face flange.TYPE GPS3 & GPP3 - Air transfer grille arrangement comprising of a high security bolt fixing unit on one sideand a lower security clutch screw unit on the other.Features- Robust 2mm Thick Stainless Steel Fascia.- Available for Air Supply, Air Extract orAir Transfer Applications.- High Security Rear Bolt Fixings.- Screwdriver Operated Opposed Bladeor Quadrant Operated Flap Damper.- Available as a Fire Rated Assembly.For volume control units can be fitted with an opposedblade damper mounted behind the grille fascia andoperated through one of the standard fascia holes(identified with a marker pen) for installation andbalancing. Alternatively Type 1 units can have a quadranttype damper fitted to the plenum inlet and operated fromthe rear.Type 1 units can also be fitted with either an intumescentor curtain fire damper to provide a fire rated unitassessed to BS476 Pt 20 1987. It is better to position the supply Grille at highlevel in a side wall with the discharge of air over theceiling and extract at a lower level.
