From the Province Leadership TeamDear Friends,During the last two weeks <strong>of</strong> Julyrepresentatives from the entire national andinternational units <strong>of</strong> the Congregation <strong>of</strong><strong>Sisters</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Joseph</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Carondelet</strong> gatheredon the campus <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. Catherine’s College in<strong>St</strong>. Paul, Minn. Listening to the Spirit moveamong us to set our course for the future—creating the six-year strategic plan, in commonparlance—we challenged ourselves to greatertransformation for the Realm <strong>of</strong> God.Entitled “Deepening Communion,” thestrategic plan obliges all sisters and associates to “. . . respondto the groaning <strong>of</strong> a disconnected world. . .” with urgency.This issue <strong>of</strong> Connections vividly illustrates CSJ women doingjust that.We choose to act for justice and to walk withsuffering people especially in times <strong>of</strong> conflict.“Milagros Means Miracle: An Immigration <strong>St</strong>ory”invites the reader into the Gospel <strong>of</strong> welcoming the strangerand comforting those who mourn according to Sister EleanorO’Hearn, CSJ.“On Call” illustrates how three sisters serving healthcareneeds at in rural Alabama gives us the Gospel lens <strong>of</strong> healingthe sick. Both stories illustrate our responsibility as Christiansto love the neighbor in need by serving them.From left to right: Srs. What must we do to change ahealthcare system that negatively impacts 40 million <strong>of</strong> themost needy among us?
