1. IntroductionIndustrial floors often need provisions for compartmentalisation to prevent leaks of spilled product. Moreover, existing industrial floors are often defective with crumbling joint edges, an incorrect fall or damaged concrete. Thesystems to be used must (often) meet CUR/PBV Recommendation 65 “Design and construction of soil protectionprovisions”. This info sheet addresses the following subjects: repair of crumbling joint edges, liquid-retaining ridges andprotection of wall-floor connections using SABA Flexform.Repairing joint edgesSABA Flexform is excellent for use as a repair mortar on concrete, for instance when joint edges have crumbled.Because SABA Flexform binds particularly well to concrete, there is no chance of water penetrating between the oldconcrete and the SABA Flexform. This greatly reduces the chance of crumbling (for instance due to frost damage).Liquid-retaining ridgesThe height of the liquid-retaining ridge depends on the area of the room to be compartmentalised. This is indicated inthe applicable BRL. Liquid-retaining ridges must be at least 10 mm high and at least 10 mm higher than the highestpoint of the floor to be compartmentalised. The liquid-retaining ridges are made in situ. This means that they are exactly tailored to the local situation. Themechanically strong ridges can be driven over problem-free by forklift trucks, lorries, trucks and even caterpillartrackedvehicles.Buffer jointsLiquid-retaining floor-wall connections in waste collection buildings, shredder rooms, recycling workshops and otherlocations where shovels, shredders or pallets are used, are often heavily mechanically loaded. In situations in which thejoints move significantly, a seal made using SABA Buffer Joint provides an excellent solution. SABA Buffer Joint is aliquid-retaining floor-wall connection consisting of a normal joint made of SABA Sealer MB or SABA Sealer MB-T anda triangular coving made of SABA Flexform, which protects the normal joint.SABA Dinxperlo BVIndustriestraat 3 NL-7091 DC Dinxperlo PO Box 3 NL-7090 AA Dinxperlo T +31 (0)315 65 89 99 F +31 (0)315 65 89 89 E info@saba.nl www.saba.nlOur recommendations and instructions for use are based on the present status of know-how and technique.
