More importantly, water mustbe added at the right time and in the right amount or the battery’sperformance and longevity suffers.Checking and maintaining the electrolyte levels in your batteriescan save thousands of dollars by preventing early battery failuredue to cell dilution and imbalance. Although adding water tobattery cells is considered a tedious job, it is a necessity.Electrolyte levels drop during discharge and rise during charge.Therefore, it is imperative that electrolyte levels be checked andadjusted after the batteries are fully charged. Prior tocharging, there should be sufficient water to cover the plates.
