NOVEL THERAPIES INTHORACIC ONCOLOGYThis half-day conference will focus on targeted therapies in the treatment<strong>of</strong> non-small cell lung cancer. The topics will include inhalationalchemotherapy for lung cancer, novel taxanes in lung cancer therapy, andnew approaches to tobacco cessation. An emphasis will be placed on livelyinteractive discussions about new treatments in lung cancer.AUDIENCEThe course will be <strong>of</strong> interest to medical oncologists and surgeons, as wellas radiation oncologists, <strong>oncology</strong> nurses, and medical pr<strong>of</strong>essionals withan interest in new developments in lung cancer treatment.EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVESFollowing this conference, participants should be able to:• Identify new pharmacologic approaches to smoking cessation• Compare new taxane therapies for lung cancer• Identify novel targeted therapies in development for lung cancer• Determine utility <strong>of</strong> lung cancer therapy in special populationsACCREDITATIONAmerican <strong>Medical</strong> Association / PRAThis activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with theEssential Areas and Policies <strong>of</strong> the Accreditation Council for <strong>Continuing</strong><strong>Medical</strong> Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship <strong>of</strong> the<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Minnesota</strong>, Department <strong>of</strong> Medicine and the Twin CitiesLung Cancer Consortium.
