The ladies race was verycompetitive, with two Chinese girls and oneother just pulling away at the end to beat JoJackson into 4th. However, although shemissed the podium she retains the courserecord which she set last year when winningthe prestigious event. A big PB from FionaMcGorum saw her go to 41 on the <strong>UK</strong> alltimelist.Souvenir Swiss penknives were presentedto every competitor, but as many peoplefrom England had travelled via Ryanairwithout checked in luggage (for around £30return), knives could not be taken back.However, Peter Marlowe kindly offered totransport them and ended up taking a largebag of knives through the airport on his wayback to England. Those returning to the <strong>UK</strong>immediately after the race enjoyed thesunshine beside the scenic lake,surrounded by snow capped mountains, in atown famous for it's hospitality towards racewalking. Those who stayed afterwards wereleft to find their own food in the evening aftera mixup at the official hotel.
