8. RECOMMENDATIONSThe need for intervention with regard to children those are commercially and sexuallyexploited is enormous. To aid in designing such interventions, we have attempted to layout in as much as details possible, a sample intervention model and a list <strong>of</strong> demands tocombat tourism related commercial sexual exploitation <strong>of</strong> children. This was one <strong>of</strong> theprimary goals <strong>of</strong> the research project that would enable interventionists andorganisations working on child right issues to look at various suggestions that haveemerge from the study.8.1.<strong>Tourism</strong> Authorities1. To develop mechanism that would help create a framework under which the“commitment to benefit local communities” could be dealt with (in partnershipwith local NGOs, community and Dept. <strong>of</strong> Women and <strong>Child</strong> Development).2. To conduct social auditing.3. To report annually on the situation <strong>of</strong> women and children in tourism areas (inAnnual report).4. Developing networks and processes for sharing information on CST anddeveloping interventions in collaboration with tourism industry and thedepartment.5. Penalties against hotels and tourism service providers who continue to permithotels rooms to be used for purposes <strong>of</strong> CST.8.2.Tour Operators and/or Hoteliers1. To train the personnel in the country <strong>of</strong> origin and travel destinations (Inpartnership with dept. <strong>of</strong> tourism, Dept. <strong>of</strong> Women and <strong>Child</strong> Development;Ministry <strong>of</strong> Information and broadcasting and NGOs).2. Create a system for tour operators in sending countries to check m\names onpassenger lists against known list <strong>of</strong> paedophiles.3. Providing information to tourists on CST and request them to help dealing withthe problem by informing if they see any doubtful behaviour <strong>of</strong> touristsaccompanying children.4. Establishing contact with user hotels requiring them to prevent unregisteredchildren (in the register book while check in) being taken into tourist's room5. Developing an ethical policy regarding trafficking and commercial sexualexploitation <strong>of</strong> children.6. To introduce a clause in contracts with suppliers, stating a common repudiation<strong>of</strong> trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation <strong>of</strong> children (In partnershipwith Dept. <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tourism</strong>).7. To provide information to travellers by means <strong>of</strong> catalogues, brochures, in-flightfilms, ticket-slips, home pages, etc.8.
