Friendly FacesPresident’s Leadership COUNCILGREETS new provost, fOOTBALL coachProvost John Mark Reynolds shared a stirring visionfor the future of Christian higher educationat HBU with members of the President’s LeadershipCouncil at its bi-annual dinner in February.The President’s Leadership Council, which wasfirst convened as the President’s DevelopmentCouncil in 1964, is composed of more than 1<strong>50</strong>friends of the <strong>University</strong>, including chairs Lindaand Archie Dunham, who have agreed to helpHBU reach its long-term goals by serving asspokespeople in their workplaces, churches andcommunities. At a previous event last spring, thePresident’s Leadership Council also heard fromHead Football Coach Vic Shealy and toured thethen newly acquired Bradshaw Fitness Center.AMERICAN MUSEUMSOCIETYMichael Collins, artist-inresidenceand chair of theDepartment of Visual Arts,drew back a black veil to givemore than 140 members of theAmerican Museum Societya sneak peek at a painting inprogress at the conclusion ofhis presentation, “AddressingGod’s Light in Naturethrough the Creative Adventure,”at the organization’sannual Museum Day Luncheon,chaired by Pat Goettscheand held at the JuniorLeague of <strong>Houston</strong> in February.Sixteen original worksby students in the Master of Fine Arts program at HBU, many ofwhom were in attendance as guests, served as centerpieces on thetables and were sold via silentauction organized by LauraKreft, director of HBU’s FineArts Museum, raising almost$1,200.Through funds raised at theMuseum Day Luncheon andother special events, the AMSsupports the Museum ofAmerican Architecture andDecorative Arts at HBU. Inthe fall, the AMS – through acollaborative effort of SondraIves, its first vice president,and Museum Arts of Dallas –gave the museum a new lifeform of a little girl to add to its display of a typical mid-to-late 18thcentury Texas bedroom.
