Annexure IIResponsibilities of those who will be appointed as Lecturers to the IESL College of Engineering1. To follow the activity schedule prepared by the IESLCE <strong>and</strong> adhere to the schedule. Since alarge number of students travel from far away places to attend the academic activities,sudden cancellation of an activity is not possible, unless an alternative arrangement, such asan activity from a different module is arranged. The cancellation of an activity involves anadditional cost to the IESLCE apart from the inconvenience caused to students.2. To in<strong>form</strong> the Director of Studies personally at least a week in advance whenever a lectureris unable to attend an activity in the schedule. In such a case, the lecturer concerned shallsend a suitable person (replacement) who is competent to conduct the activity, or assign therelevant Tutor to conduct a tutorial session. The particulars of the replacement shall also bein<strong>form</strong>ed to the Director of Studies. Cancellation of an activity on the same day itself ishighly unethical.3. To place the signature in the Attendance Register maintained by the IESLCE.4. To document a record of work (scope <strong>and</strong> depth of the topic/s covered) at the end of thesession in the relevant portfolio of the course module. This in<strong>form</strong>ation will be important toSetters <strong>and</strong> Moderators of the examination papers <strong>and</strong> also for quality assurance.5. To submit class test/assignment marks timely without waiting till the end of the year.6. To prepare a model question paper if the examination of a particular course module is heldfor the first time.7. To prepare Lecture notes <strong>and</strong>/or any other academic material in advance <strong>and</strong> upload themto the MOODLE (Learning Management System) timely. Requests for photocopying lecturenotes are acceptable, but it may be necessary to adhere to minimum photocopying toreduce the cost <strong>and</strong> submit such requests giving adequate time to the staff of the IESLCE toprocess them.8. To prescribe text books, reading material, activities, etc. in support of the class roomteaching.9. To prepare tutorials/assignments based on the topics covered in the class room <strong>and</strong> makethem available in the MOODLE. The deadlines for submission of tutorials <strong>and</strong> assignmentsneed to be decided <strong>and</strong> in<strong>form</strong>ed to the students in advance.10. To obtain the services of Tutors to conduct the tutorial classes <strong>and</strong> /or mark the answerscripts or/<strong>and</strong> assignments. The lecturer is required to prepare the model answers <strong>and</strong>marking schemes <strong>and</strong> make them available to the Tutors in addition to guiding them to fulfilltheir responsibilities. It is also necessary to make the marked tutorials/assignments availableto each student regularly as the student is required to improve his/her knowledgecontinuously over the academic year based on the feedback given.11. To continuously monitor the progress of the students <strong>and</strong> report to the Director of Studieson any major concerns about the progress.12. To submit vouchers duly <strong>and</strong> accurately filled once a month to process the payments.13. To provide a feedback on the academic activities with the intention of improving the qualityof delivery of course modules with the available resources. Any additional resources ifrequired shall be brought to the attention of the Director of Studies.


Annexure IIResponsibilities of those who will be appointed as Tutors to the IESL College of Engineering1. To assist the Lecturers to conduct academic activities.2. To follow the activity schedule prepared by the IESLCE <strong>and</strong> adhere to the schedule.3. To conduct the relevant activities without postponement <strong>and</strong> commence <strong>and</strong> concludeactivities as in the schedule. Whenever a Tutor is unable to attend to a scheduled activity,he/she shall in<strong>form</strong> the Director of Studies personally giving sufficient notice. In such a case,the Tutor concerned shall send a suitable person (replacement) who is competent toconduct the activity. The particulars of the replacement shall also be in<strong>form</strong>ed to theDirector of Studies.4. To place the signature in the Attendance Register maintained by the IESLCE.5. To maintain a record of work delivered on the basis of the schedule, or otherwise whenapproved by the Director of Studies.6. To assess the student per<strong>form</strong>ance through tutorials, assignments, etc. under thesupervision <strong>and</strong> guidance of the relevant Lecturer. Model answers <strong>and</strong> marking schemesshall be prepared under the supervision <strong>and</strong> guidance of the relevant lecturer.7. To communicate with the lecturer concerned <strong>and</strong> the Director of Studies continuously withregard to the work he/she per<strong>form</strong>s in the IESLCE.8. To submit assessment/ tutorial marks timely.9. Preparedness to attend to an activity of his/her area of specialization within a week’s noticewhen requested by the Lecturer concerned or Director of studies.10. To make himself/herself accessible through e-mail <strong>and</strong> mobile phone.
