A match shall consist of the best of three sets. If a player or a team wins the first 2sets, then the third set will not be played.2. The right to choose the initial order of serving, receiving <strong>and</strong> ends shall bedecided by lot <strong>and</strong> the winner may choose to serve or to receive first or to start ata particular end.3. The server shall st<strong>and</strong> behind the baseline on the deuce court within theboundaries of the singles court when playing singles <strong>and</strong> within the doublessideline when playing doubles. Serves are made from the deuce court to theopponent’s service box on the deuce court. If the server misses his target twice, heloses the point. If the ball hits the net <strong>and</strong> goes in the correct service box, anotherserve is granted. If the server step on the baseline before contact is made, theserve is deemed a fault.4. The receiver can st<strong>and</strong> where he likes but must let the ball bounce in the servicebox. If the ball does not l<strong>and</strong> in the service box, it is deemed a fault <strong>and</strong> a secondserve is given. If the ball is hit by either opponent before the ball bounces, theserver wins the point.5. After the game, the opponents serve. Games equal 1. The first to win 6 games, bytwo, wins the set. The first to win 2 sets wins the match. If the score is 6-6, a tiebreakeris played. This is scored by one's. The first team to score 7 points winningby two wins the set. The tiebreaker continues until one side wins by two. Hence,Game-Set-Match.6. If the ball hits the net during the point <strong>and</strong> goes into the opponent’s court, the ballis in play. A player loses the point if he touches the net, drops his racquet whilehitting the ball, bounces the ball over the net, hits a part of the surroundings suchas the roof, or a tree, the ball touches him or his partner, he deliberately tries todistract the opponent.7. A let is called during the point if a ball rolls on the court or there is a distractionfrom someone besides the players on the court.8. Whenever there is a clear failure to comply with the requirements for a correctservice, no warning shall be given <strong>and</strong> the receiver shall score a point.9. If there is a tie between players (situations where 2 or more players have wonequal number of games), the person who has won with more point difference inprevious matches will be the winner <strong>and</strong> he would go to the next round of thetournament.10. If there is a situation where there is a conflict or question about a particularsituation during the game, TACO has the right to refer to the rules <strong>and</strong> regulationsdefined by USTA <strong>and</strong> come to a decision.


11. Players are expected to be at the court at least 30 minutes prior to the game. If theplayers fail to show up the match will be cancelled <strong>and</strong> the opponent will bedeclared a winner.12. Individuals will be divided into groups <strong>and</strong> each player or team gets to play 3matches in the group. Knock out round starts after each player or team has playedtheir initial 3 games.13. If there are less than 5 participants in an event then that even will be cancelledwith out prior notification.14. Umpire decision is final.15. The top 2 winners will get trophies from TACO.16. Following are the categories:A. Men’s singles <strong>and</strong> doublesB. Women’s singles <strong>and</strong> doublesC. Kids under 15 years singlesNote: 16 years <strong>and</strong> older are considered adults.17. Admission fee Member ($5.00), Non-Member ($8.00), Walk-In ($10.00),Member Family (2 adults <strong>and</strong> 2 kids) ($25.00)NOTE:1. SAFETY - As in any physical sport, there is a risk of injury.Participants are deemed to acknowledge <strong>and</strong> accept the risks.
