Today's award is KCK League Newcomer of the Year.J.C. Harmon junior Deontae Hooks is our choice for the Kansas City, Kan., League Newcomer of the Year.Hooks, who transfered from the Houston, Texas area this year, led the Hawks in scoring throughout the seasonand was one of the team's leading rebounders. During the team's run to the Paola Invitational, Hooks scored 36points against Tonganoxie and averaged around 25 points a game for the tournament.With a solid outside shot, Hooks shot 37 percent from three and 52 percent inside the arc. Overall, his shootingpercentage was 46 percent.
