Sustainability has become a major consideration in anyconstruction project – particularly as new, innovativeproducts mean there are no more excuses for not beingenvironmentally efficient.Jablite EPS helps the environment in the following ways:Positive contribution tosaving energyThe energy used during manufacturing is covered many times over bythe energy saved during the insulation’s life span – which, by the way,is as effective after 50 years as it is on day one. For each kilogramme ofJablite EPS used, at least 400 litres of oil is saved over 50 years.SafeJablite EPS doesn’t contain, and never has, any harmful HCFCs.It doesn’t irritate the skin or nostrils and presents no health risk duringinstallation or in use.RecyclableJablite EPS is completely recyclable and we operate an environmentalprogramme recycling all in-house manufacturing waste, as well as anypackaging and other waste EPS from outside the company.EPS waste can be dealt with inother ways too:n By melting and then extruding it to create a plastic suitable for themanufacture of plant pots, coat hangers and a wood substitute. It can also be mixed with other plastic waste to make park benches, road signs and a whole host of other things.n When incinerating it, you can release the energy contained withinthe EPS to produce electricity or local heating – with the onlyby-products being carbon dioxide, water vapour and a small amountof non-toxic ash.n EPS can even have beneficial effects if it is sent to landfill byencouraging plant growth by aerating the soil. It doesn’t leachanything into ground water and it doesn’t produce potentiallyexplosive methane gas.www.jablite.co.uk 9
