Selection Method<br />

In the selection of <strong>Kool<strong>en</strong></strong> vibration motors the physical properties of the products<br />

concerned play an important role. The correct value for the torque of <strong>Kool<strong>en</strong></strong> vibration<br />

motors can oft<strong>en</strong> only be determined by trials. By using the selection table in<br />

the ways described below you can make a reasonable selection.<br />

1) In the selection table find the motor speed suitable for your application.<br />

2) Determine the ‘average distance’ (Sn) suitable for your application and the accompanying<br />

motor factor (MF).<br />

3) Determine the weight of the machine part that must be vibrated (effective<br />

weight)<br />

NOTE: do not calculate for the weight of the product in the vibration channel.<br />

4) Calculate the torque (AM) needed for your application with the formula: AM =<br />

MF x G installation x 5n.<br />

5) Select from among the models the motor type with the speed and torque required<br />

for your application.<br />

NOTE: for elliptical vibration you can maintain the value for the torque used for<br />

step 4) For directional vibration you need to divide the value calculated under<br />

4) for the required torque by two. This is because you use two motors.<br />

6) Check your selection with the following formula:<br />

Explanation<br />

Sn = vibration width in mm<br />

AM = torque per motor in kg-cm<br />

G inst. = effective weight of the vibration system<br />

G mot. = weight of the motor(s)<br />

MF = motor mass factor

Opmerking: Indi<strong>en</strong> er twee motor<strong>en</strong> in gebruik zijn op dezelfde installatie,<br />

is het noodzakelijk dat bij uitval van één motor de gehele electrische<br />

installatie direct wordt uitgeschakeld.<br />

Note: if two motors are in use in the same system, the <strong>en</strong>tire electrical system<br />

should be shut off wh<strong>en</strong> one motor fails.<br />

Hinweis: W<strong>en</strong>n bei derselb<strong>en</strong> Anlage zwei Motor<strong>en</strong> eingesetzt werd<strong>en</strong>,<br />

muß beim Ausfall auch nur eines einzig<strong>en</strong> Motors die gesamte elektrische<br />

Anlage ausgeschaltet werd<strong>en</strong>.<br />

Remarque : Si on utilise deux moteurs pour une même installation, il est nécessaire<br />

qu’<strong>en</strong> cas de panne d’un moteur, l’<strong>en</strong>semble de l’installation électrique soit coupé.<br />
