SBCO6520: Quantitative and StatisticalTechniques (3 credits)This course is concerned with the use <strong>of</strong> quantitative andstatistical techniques to assist in rational decision-making.The emphasis is not on the techniques themselves, butrather on how they can contribute to better decisions.The approach is to present real business situations inwhich quantitative and statistical techniques have beenapplied successfully and to show how managers can usethe methods to make better decisions.SBCO6080: Personal Development Electives(2 credits)The Personal Development Electives (PDE’s) will providestudents with the opportunity to participate in diverselearning experiences during their programme. By virtue<strong>of</strong> their involvement in their chosen electives, students willacquire specific personal skills by engaging in seminars,workshops, special assignments or projects.Fig 3: Internship Track SponsorsFollowing the internship, students willprepare a report describing his/her internshipactivities and will make a presentation before acommittee including the Faculty Advisor and arepresentative <strong>of</strong> the sponsoring organization.For each <strong>of</strong> the electives to be <strong>of</strong>fered during a given period, the specific target groups, objectives, content, assessment andmethodology will be provided in the PDE course outline. Each student will be required to complete two PDE’s to earn thetwo credits which are essential for programme completion, except where the school assigns two credits to an individual PDEbecause <strong>of</strong> its depth or scope.The <strong>School</strong> will vary the electives <strong>of</strong>fered each year according to emerging needs. Electives to be <strong>of</strong>feredto students may include those indicated below in Table 1Eligibility for each elective will bedetermined by student demand,fulfillment <strong>of</strong> pre-requisites andavailability <strong>of</strong> opportunities toparticipate in those electives that requireinvolvement outside <strong>of</strong> the <strong>School</strong>.Component 3: Entrepreneurship or Internship TrackThe Entrepreneurial Track aims to impart practical entrepreneurial and management skillsgrounded in a sound academic base. The programme will <strong>of</strong>fer an intense blend <strong>of</strong> theory andpractices delivered by a combination <strong>of</strong> industry practitioners and academics, and providea solid cross–disciplinary foundation <strong>of</strong> management and entrepreneurial skills. It is designedto consider the dynamics <strong>of</strong> small emerging economies that operate in a regional and globalcontext. The track will consist <strong>of</strong> three courses:SBBM6010:Experiences In Entrepreneurship (E2)(4 credits)This course aims to bring the student entrepreneur into intimate contactwith the multi-dimensional world <strong>of</strong> entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurthrough an experiential learning approach. The student will choose twoE2 assignment options to work on over the two semesters. All cohortmembers will form a business management team at the beginning <strong>of</strong>Semester 1 to host an annual one-day MSB Entrepreneurship Seminarheld at the end <strong>of</strong> Semester 2.6263
