Miyan Shah Nizam RZ was a Hafiz-e-Quran. Regarding thesecond characteristic of being a witness to the Vision of Allah,this came about when Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS was in Thatta(now in Sindh, Pakistan) 8 . The ruler of that place, JamNizamuddin (he is also referred to as Jam Nanda) sent the Qaziand other scholars to inquire about Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS .When the topic of the vision of Allah came up, the scholarsargued with Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS that it is not possible to seeAllah in this world. Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS put forth the verseof the Quran, “But those who were blind in this world will beblind in the Hereafter” 9 in support of his claim. The scholarswere cornered, so they said, “The vision of Allah is only aclaim. Is there any one in your group who will testify that hehas seen Allah?” Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS turned to Hazrat ShahNizam RZand said, “The Qazi demands testimony to inquireabout the Vision of Allah Most High. Will you tender thetestimony?” Hazrat Shah Nizam RZsaid, “Meeranji! By thesadaqa (charity) of the Imam AS this servant will certainly givethe testimony of seeing Allah Most High with the eyes of thehead.” After this, Hazrat Imam Mahdi ASasked Hazrat ShahDilawar RZ , “Will you also give testimony, because the Qazi issatisfied with the testimony of two witnesses?” Hazrat ShahDilawar RZsaid, “I will give the testimony by the sadaqa ofHazrat Imam Mahdi AS , But the Qazi will not accept it.” HazratMeeran AS said, “The responsibility of the witness is to give thetestimony. Whether the Qazi accepts it or not, is his business.”8 Panj Fazail has a similar narrative which occurred in Herat, Afghanistanand testimony was given to Shaikh Ali Fayyaz and three other scholars.9 Surah Al-Isra 17:72Hazrat Mahdi AS said, “Allah has given Miyan Nizam Farooqithe share of the khilafat of Prophethood and has specially madehim the khalifa of Vilayet.”Imam Mahdi AS said, “The grandfather of Miyan Shah Nizam RZwas Shaikh Farid Shakar-Ganj RA (treasure of sugar) and MiyanNizam RZ is Ruyet-Ganj (Treasure of Divine Vision).”Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS said that Miyan Nizam RZ is Darya-e-Wahdat Aasham (One who has drunk the Ocean of DivineUnity).Hazrat Mahdi AS said, “Miyan Shah Nizam is the sea of theZath, nay he is the Drinker of the Sea. When this banda poursthe Sea of Divinity (Rububiat) he drinks the whole of it. Thisway, I poured seven seas, he drank all of them, but the lips didnot get wet.”Imam Mahdi AS is narrated to have explained the meaning ofthe Vision of Allah Most High before Bandagi Miyan ShahNizam RZ . Bandagi Miyan Syed Salamullah RZ told the Imam ASthat he should not have said all this before the Shah RZ . TheImam AS replied, “Miyan Nizam is one who tells the truth (haqgo).The Truth is not concealed from a haq-go.”Imam Mahdi AS is narrated to have said, “The attributes of AbuBakr RZ are in Miyan Nizam RZ .”Hazrat Mahdi AS said, “Allah has given Miyan Nizam such anopening (kashf) that he sees everything from the throne to theearth, nay from the empyrean to the abyss, as if somebody isseeing a mustard seed in his hand.”1819
Hazrat Mahdi AS said, “O Miyan Nizam, after this servant, youare the Imam.”One day Miyan Shah Nizam RZ was sitting on the prayer matfor the Zuhr prayers. He let out a sigh. Hazrat Mahdi AS said,“O Miyan Nizam, you let out a sigh and the great throne (Arshe-Akber)trembles, soon it may fall.”ADHERENCE TO SHARIATIt was time for the zuhr prayers in congregation in the daira ofBandagi Miyan Shah Nizam RZ . Miyan Khund Shaikh RZ missedone or two cycles of congregation prayers. After the prayers,the Shah RZsaid, “Miyan Khund Shaikh! The attribute ofhypocrisy appears in you as you have missed one or two cyclesof prayer. Why did you miss the first takbir (takbir-e-oola)?”The Shaikh RZsaid, “I was taking my meals. Hence I wasdelayed.” The Shah RZ said, “Is this the way you are emulatingImam Mahdi AS ? On hearing the call for prayers, Imam Mahdi ASused to drop the morsel in his hand in the plate and come forthe prayers.”One day very early in the morning, Hazrat Shah Nizam RZ wasin divine audience. The Muezzin Miyan Hameed RA gave theprayer call (Azan) for the fajr prayers. The sound of "Hayya-‘alas-salat" (come to namaz) reached the ears of the Shah RZ .The Shah RZ told Allah, "O Allah! It is time for the namaz. Iwill perform namaz if You command me to do so." Allah MostHigh commanded, "O Nizam! You are standing in Ourpresence (huzoor). The intention of performing namaz is tocome into Our Presence. So what is the need for you toperform namaz? You stay here!"A few moments later, Shah Nizam RZ again said: "O Allah! Mybrothers of religion are sitting on the prayer mats waiting forme. It is time to perform your farz (obligation, that is, namaz).Permit me to go and perform namaz." However, Allahreiterated what He had earlier said.The Shah RZ very respectfully said, "O Allah! I am the meanestand humblest among Your Creation. In the Ummah too I amthe meanest. Among the musaddiqan too, I am the meanest.Had you intended to exempt anyone from the performance ofnamaz, you would have exempted Prophet Muhammad SLM andSyed Muhammed Mahdi AS . Who is Nizam RZ that you areexempting him from the performance of namaz? Permit me togo and perform Your namaz, that is farz-e-`ain (the veryessential obligation)!"Then Allah's command came, "Be happy My servant! You areaccepted by Us. At this station, many people have flounderedand were thrown into Asfal-as-safileen (the lowest level of theHell) and destroyed! We have given you this knowledge(ma'arifat) because we have made you the khalifa of ImamMahdi AS , the Seal of Sainthood of Muhammad SLM (Khatam-e-Vilayet-e-Muhammadia).”Fateh Khan Barhu was a disciple of Miyan Shah Nizam RZ . Oneday he sent 100 tinkas (local currency of that time) to MiyanShah Nizam RZ . Miyan Nizam RZ accepted it. The second monthhe sent 100 tinkas again. Miyan Nizam RZ accepted this too. Hesent 100 tinkas the third month too. But Miyan Shah Nizam RZdid not accept it and said, “Fateh Khan wants to feed us with2021
