During the ride the ATV flipped, landing upsidedown and rolling. Seth was life-flighted to the University of IowaHospital where it was determined he had a skull fracture and a brainbleed. Seth underwent surgery that evening, receiving 80 stitches andtwo drains of blood from his brain.When Seth came to <strong>ChildServe</strong> he was unable to walk or talk. Whilehere, he received intensive physical therapy, occupational therapy,speech therapy, child life, and recreational therapy. Tessa has Spina Bifida and also sufers from a congenital hipdeformity which made walking very difficult and painful. Without surgery, shewould have eventually lost the ability to walk altogether. After undergoinga complex operation, Tessa came to <strong>ChildServe</strong> for significant rehabilitation,including intensive occupational and physical therapies. <strong>ChildServe</strong>’s therapistsworked with Tessa to regain her strength and improve her balance. After eightweeks of focused treatment, Tessa left <strong>ChildServe</strong> walking on her own, anactivity that she and her family will never take for granted.


CHILDSERVE FOUNDATIONCHILDSERVE FUNDGifts to the <strong>ChildServe</strong> Fund allow us to provide life-enhancingopportunities so that children have access to programs andservices that enable them to reach their full potential. Some ofthe items made possible by generous donors include new orretrofitted wheelchairs, specialized equipment, transportationvehicles, and Camp <strong>ChildServe</strong> scholarships.CHILDSERVE ENDOWMENTThe endowment allows donors to make contributions that “giveforever.” Endowment gifts impact children’s lives by creating apermanent source of financial support that focuses on the carechildren receive, equipment they need, and training for staff.CHILDSERVE CAPITALCapital dollars are raised as part of an extensive fundraisingeffort over a specific period of time.
