Annual Report 2011A total of 564 teachers did not renew their registration for 2011 compared with 733 teacherswho did not renew their registration when it expired in 2009.Profile of teachers registered in the Northern TerritoryOf the teachers registered in the Northern Territory, 51% are between 45 and 60 years of ageand 53% are female.3% of teachers identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Of this cohort, the majoritygained their qualifications in the Northern Territory.A total of 532 registered teachers have an initial teacher education qualification obtained froman overseas institution.The percentage of the total number of teachers registered in the Northern Territory under theMR arrangements continues to increase.
