Day One: Vancouver – Osoyoos
Travel east on the Trans-Canada Highway to Hope. Continue east on the
Crowsnest Highway past the site of the infamous Hope Slide. Enjoy the
rugged beauty of this highway as it winds through Manning Park, which
remains the most cherished route to the Okanagan. Drive through Princeton
to the orchard town of Keremeos and on to Osoyoos. Sample some of BC’s
premium wines at the Nk’ Mip Cellars. The desert city of Osoyoos is the first
nights destination.
Day Two: Osoyoos – Nelson Meals: B, L, D
The day begins at Osoyoos with a drive eastward through some historical
towns with a stop in Greenwood. Experience the flavour of the community
with a Doukhobor-style lunch in Castlegar, followed by a guided tour of the
Doukhobor Village Museum. Meander alongside the Kootenay River to
Nelson one of the most charming cities in the Kootenays. Arrive at the Prestige
Lakeside Resort your home for the next two nights.
Day Three: Nelson Meals: B
After breakfast a local guide will conduct a one-hour historical coach tour of
Nelson followed by some free time to explore Nelson’s Baker Street. This
unique area offers many arts and crafts shops, up close views of marvellous
Victorian architectural buildings, excellent restaurants and much more. An
optional afternoon drive to Ainsworth Hot Springs for a dip in the mineral
pool is available.
Day Four: Nelson – Vernon Meals: B, D
Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Kootenays as we travel from Nelson to Nakusp.
Highlights include a tour of the stern wheeler “The Moyie” a National Landmark
in Kaslo. After a lunch break in Nakusp the journey continues to the Needles
cable ferry and across Lower Arrow Lake. Continue through to downtown
Vernon for a one night stay.
Day Five: Vernon – Vancouver Meals: B, L
The coach proceeds southwest to the High Country Region and Merritt for
lunch. Travel south on the Coquihalla Highway to the Fraser Valley and back
to Vancouver.
