Day One Vancouver - Albuquerque Meals: R
Travel south with United Airlines from Vancouver to Albuquerque, New
Mexico. The two night stay is at the Best Western Rio Grande Inn located
in Old Town Albuquerque. Enjoy a welcome reception upon arrival.
Day Two Albuquerque Meals: B
This morning visit Old Town, the site of Albuquerque’s founding in 1706, noted
for Pueblo-Spanish style architecture. Stroll along the brick paths to more
than 150 stores, galleries, restaurants and museums. Visit the Turquoise
Museum, uncover the mystery of turquoise, delve into its rich history and learn
about different mines and colourful characters.
Day Three Albuquerque – Santa Fe Meals: B, D
Experience Albuquerque’s International Balloon Fiesta. It is the world’s
largest hot air balloon fiesta where you’ll see the mass ascension of more
than 700 balloons in the sky and is considered to be the most photographed
event in the world. After spending the morning at this amazing fiesta travel
by coach to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center to learn of the unique history
of each of New Mexico’s 19 Pueblos. It’s just an hours drive to Santa Fe for
a five night stay at La Fonda Hotel with its pueblo-style Spanish architecture
and décor, luxurious, inviting ambience and warm hospitality. Enjoy a dinner
together at the hotel’s restaurant.
Day Four Santa Fe Meals: B
Santa Fe is a world-renowned travel destination unparalleled in richness of
history, heritage, arts and culture. With more than 250 galleries to explore,
you will be astonished by the city’s array of art, including traditional and
contemporary painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, textiles and more.
Santa Fe’s Native American and Spanish Colonial roots are reflected in many
of the galleries. With a local guide enjoy a walking tour of this downtown
community. This afternoon there is a visit to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum.
Georgia O’Keeffe is a world renowned artist who made her home outside
Santa Fe.
Day Five Santa Fe Meals: B
Today is a free day in Santa Fe to visit the many galleries and local museums
or explore the Santa Fe shops.
Day Six Santa Fe - Taos - Santa Fe Meals: B
Travel north with a local guide to the community of Taos, New Mexico. Taos
Pueblo is the only living Native American community designated both a World
Heritage Site by UNESCO and a National Historic Landmark. The multi-storied
adobe buildings have been continuously
inhabited for over 1000 years. This tour
includes a stop at Rancho de Taos,
an opportunity to view the Centinela
weavers and a visit to Sanctuario de
Chimayo (a church with miraculous
dirt). There will be free time and lunch
on your own in Taos.
