Well trained skilled staff and up-to-date information about the state of technology are
key to the success of every company.
Having highly qualified staff is a guarantor of quality and
productivity and, as a result, the competitiveness of the

Training of specialist teachers in Germany
Once per year, PrintPromotion offers a 4-week course for specialist teachers of training
institutions which is carried out in Germany.
Specialist teachers play a crucial role in the qualification of skilled
staff: Training institutions are the multipliers of the industry.
Therefore, PrintPromotion offers a 4-week course for specialist
teachers from training institutions which is carried out in Germany
once per year. The participants come from different countries.
Each individual benefits from this international character of the
group of participants.
The teachers are given further special training at the AZP training
centre for print & media (Ausbildungszentrum für Polygrafie) in
Chemnitz. The training courses and seminars of PrintPromotion teach
basic know-how and focus in particular on hands-on training for
data preparation and the use of prepress software
printing in practice
operation of machines and equipment in prepress and print
efficient use of devices and software
quality control and management
production workflow and prevention of faults
color management
Furthermore, the specialist teachers of the training institutions are
given information about technical innovations and applications in
the printing industry.
The training courses also include excursions to printing companies,
print finishing companies and manufacturers of printing, paper and
converting machines.

Seminars for specialist teachers outside
of Germany
In addition to the courses for specialist teachers, PrintPromotion carries out seminars for
specialist teachers at training centres outside of Germany.
The curriculum of these 3-day events is oriented towards
the production workflow in a modern printing company.
The focus is on the special needs of the participants from
the respective countries.
On the first day, the subjects to be dealt with are compiled
in working groups; on the other two days, the participants
apply what they have learnt in hands-on workshops using
devices and machines.
These seminars are carried out at universities and other
training institutions in Asia, South Africa, East Europe and
South America.

Advanced vocational training for operators
Flexible basic and advanced training for skilled prepress and print staff
Only profound training and practical experience enable
to use existing technology in a purposeful manner and to
fully exploit the available potential capacity of the highly
sophisticated machines.
Therefore, PrintPromotion offers specific advanced
training for prepress and print operators working in
printing companies. The focus of this training is on
practical applications. The skilled operators are shown
on the spot at their workplace how the machines are
efficiently operated and are taught supplementary basic
know-how for the production of high-quality print
products.
The duration and contents of this training events are
fixed individually depending on the requirements of the
users. Such advanced training can be given either as part
of a 3-day seminar on site or during a several-week training
course in Germany.

For managers it is important that they develop key
competences like entrepreneurial thinking, business
know-how and human resources management.
They are preconditions of strategic actions which
make the company fit for the future.
Therefore, the contents of the management course of

For over 60 years now drupa has been the driving force providing
decisive momentum for the industry and accompanying the structural
change occurring in the print and media industries. Buzzwords like
web-based technologies, digital printing in concert with sheet-fed and
web-offset printing, cross-media communication and mobile devices as
well as the networking between the various technologies are on
everybody’s lips at present. With its over 1,850 exhibitors and more
than 350,000 international visitors drupa 2012 is perfectly timed in this
period of change. It stands for the complete global ranges available for
the print and media industries, for both current and upcoming trends
but also those in the distant future. The fair accompanies these changes
taking us all into the future of Print 2.0.
drupa in turn has always picked up on the current trends in print
communication with its marketing campaigns, adapted them to the
needs of a leading international trade fair and put them into practice
correspondingly. As it also will for the 15th edition of drupa. The campaign
motto reads “your link to print”. The ad motifs and visitor mailings
therefore consistently link the print, web and mobile media channels.
This line is made possible by Augmented Reality – or AR for short. Print is
enriched with multi-media elements. The initials AR in the top right-hand
corner of each ad immediately catch the eye. If readers equipped with a
special software (Junaio; also see www.drupa.de/hilfe) focus on the
so-called marker via their Smartphone, tablet or PC/laptop camera a
3D animation starts up on the screen. At the touch of a finger on the
interactive button they are then navigated direct to the drupa landing page.
The benefits are self-evident: print directs readers in a targeted manner to
the drupa website where they can obtain the latest news.
Last but not least, tablet PCs and ever improved Smartphones increasingly
move Augmented Reality into the public eye by opening up new and
attractive applications for the entire communications industry. However,
technology should never be an end in itself.
Instead, it should be incorporated into the campaign concept as a whole –
and be subordinate to the communicative objectives and contents. This is
precisely the success formula of cross-media campaigns that link print with
web and mobile.
