Center for the Study <strong>of</strong><br />
Law and Religion<br />
A University-wide Law and Religion program<br />
is available for students to explore<br />
the religious dimensions <strong>of</strong> law, the legal<br />
dimensions <strong>of</strong> religion, and the interaction<br />
<strong>of</strong> legal and religious ideas and<br />
institutions. The program <strong>of</strong>fers courses,<br />
several joint-degree programs, and clinical<br />
programs. The program also sponsors<br />
conferences and lectures on the interaction<br />
<strong>of</strong> law and religion.<br />
The program <strong>of</strong>fers courses in law<br />
and religion open to MDiv candidates,<br />
MTS candidates, and students<br />
in the law school, Emory College, and<br />
the Laney Graduate <strong>School</strong>. Courses<br />
include Western Legal Tradition, Law<br />
and <strong>Theology</strong>: Problems in Moral<br />
Accountability, History <strong>of</strong> Church-State<br />
Relations in the West, Jewish Law:<br />
Background and Process, and American<br />
Constitutional Law: Church and State.<br />

Rollins Center for Church Ministries<br />
The guiding purpose <strong>of</strong> the Rollins<br />
Center for Church Ministries is the<br />
integration <strong>of</strong> theological education<br />
and the ministries <strong>of</strong> Christian<br />
congregations. The center promotes<br />
research on congregational life and<br />
mission and provides opportunities<br />
for students to learn methods <strong>of</strong><br />
congregational study, particularly<br />
through the Teaching Parish Program.<br />
The Rollins Center for Church<br />
Ministries was given by O. Wayne<br />
Rollins in memory <strong>of</strong> his mother,<br />
Claudia A. Rollins.<br />
World Methodist Evangelism Institute<br />
A cooperative ministry <strong>of</strong> the World<br />
Methodist Council and <strong>Candler</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Theology</strong>, the World Methodist<br />
Evangelism Institute <strong>of</strong>fers study and<br />
research in the nature and practice <strong>of</strong><br />
evangelism. Using a multiracial and<br />
multinational faculty, the institute brings<br />
world evangelism leaders, faculty, and<br />
students together at <strong>Candler</strong> and at other<br />
places around the world, and sends<br />
faculty to different countries to share<br />
insights and learn from the experience<br />
<strong>of</strong> others. Annually, <strong>Candler</strong> students in<br />
good <strong>academic</strong> standing and students<br />
from other seminaries are permitted<br />
to enroll in the institute’s international<br />
and regional evangelism seminars for<br />
<strong>academic</strong> credit. Located on the Emory<br />
University campus, the institute provides<br />
opportunities for pastors and lay<br />
persons to gain continuing education<br />
credits while gaining experience in evangelism<br />
in other cultures, <strong>of</strong>fers training<br />
in faith-sharing in a non-confrontational<br />
approach, and provides opportunities<br />
for seminary students to have a dialogue<br />
with students <strong>of</strong> other seminaries across<br />

Youth Theological Initiative<br />
The Youth Theological Initiative (YTI)<br />
is a center <strong>of</strong> research and teaching<br />
dedicated to the theological education <strong>of</strong><br />
youth for the benefit <strong>of</strong> church and society.<br />
The program strives to:<br />
• foster recognition among youth<br />
and adults <strong>of</strong> the theological abilities<br />
<strong>of</strong> youth<br />
• equip youth to engage in theological<br />
reflection and to bring theology<br />
into action for the betterment <strong>of</strong><br />
church and society<br />
• promote a vision <strong>of</strong> youth ministry<br />
that takes the theological abilities<br />
and questions <strong>of</strong> youth seriously<br />
