Joining the Sixth FormEach year, we welcome new students into the SixthForm to join the girls moving up from the senior <strong>School</strong>.The Sixth Form holds one Open Evening in the autumn.This evening provides girls the opportunity to meetwith Heads of Departments to explore the possibilitiesof the subjects they are considering. This year, the SixthForm Open Evening is scheduled for:• Tuesday, 5 October at 18.30Please contact the Senior <strong>School</strong> Admissions Office orvisit our website to reserve a place.Entry to the Senior <strong>School</strong> at 16+(Sixth Form)Places in the Sixth Form are offered based onexamination results and interviews. First, applicantsmust sit an examination consisting of data analysis anda discursive essay. Girls who perform well will be invitedback for both an academic interview in the subject theywish to study and a general interview. They may also beasked to sit a test in one or more subjects.For 20<strong>11</strong> entry, the closing date for Sixth Formapplications is 20 October <strong>2010</strong>. Examinations for SixthForm entry will be held on 3 November <strong>2010</strong>.Occasional vacanciesWhen occasional vacancies arise, suitable applicants onthe waiting list will be notified. Applicants must take theappropriate entrance examination and, if they performwell, will be invited for an interview. Priority will be givento a candidate transferring from another GDST schoolbut only where, in the opinion of the Headmistress of<strong>SHHS</strong>, she would be likely to flourish at the <strong>School</strong>.Entrance to Year <strong>11</strong> is not normally possible.Overseas applicantsArrangements may be made for overseas applicants tosit entrance examinations under the supervision of theircurrent school.Transfer to another GDST schoolA <strong>South</strong> <strong>Hampstead</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> pupil may haveto move home mid-course (or have other specialcircumstances) and want to transfer to another GDSTschool. The Trust supports such transfers, as long as theyare the right ones educationally, and assesses every caseindividually. A transfer will usually be agreed providedthat there is a place available, and that the Head of thenew school judges that the pupil will thrive there. Theprevious Head’s recommendation is sought and someform of admissions assessment may be needed.1213
