With thelegislative session upon us, the committee was of the opinion the proposed draft of the anesthesia law presented was toocomplex to work with at the time and to seek the changes requested in the letter to Chairman Morgan, and to require classesthree and four permit holders to use a qualified monitor and an assistant during procedures when utilizing class three orfour sedation.The next order of business was discussion of an airway management course given by the American DentalAssociation, which Dr. William Marshall will attend for review for this committee.The meeting was adjourned with the next meeting to be determined.12

The Board directed the staff todiscontinue issuing retired renewal certificates and upon motion by Dr. George D. Conard, Jr., and properly seconded byDr. Craig L. Meadows and passed by majority vote, the Board will no longer send newsletters to retired dentists.The next order of business was the purchasing card report and quarterly financial reports, which were acceptedas distributed.The next order of business was information concerning the State Auditor’s Training Seminar for Boards, whichwas distributed for information purposes. Mr. Ford, Ms. Ratliff-Thomas, Mrs. Combs and Mr. Harman will attend theSeminar.The next order of business was an Anesthesia Committee Report concerning proposed changes to the anesthesialaw, which includes requiring a three operator model for classes 3A, 3B and 4, and clean up and modernize to the AmericanDental Association Guidelines section six.The next order of business was a letter from Dr. Richard McClung the review process being utilized by the WVCHIPS program for limited Orthodontic coverage. The Board directed the staff to inform Dr. McClung the issue is outsidethe Board’s jurisdiction as it is an insurance issue.The next order of business was a discussion of licensing issues concerning graduate students.15
