Invitation_____________________________________________________________________It gives me pleasure, in my capacity as the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee,in inviting you to take part in the 7 th Congress of the Federation of Asian andOceanian Physiological Societies (FAOPS), to be held from September 11 to 14, 2011,in the vibrant city of Taipei.With the human genome deciphered during the last millennium, the first decade ofthis millennium saw shifting of biomedical research from identification of novelgenes and proteins to delineation of novel functional phenotypes for these genes andproteins. By bridging molecules and functions, it is anticipated that physiology willagain be in the scientific limelight come 2011. It is in this spirit that the theme of the7 th FAOPS Congress is “Physiology: the continuum of genes to functions”.The Organizing Committee has already embarked on designing a program that is bothscientifically rewarding and socially exciting.
