Admission Requirements<br />
Applicants must meet the general admission requirements<br />
<strong>of</strong> the <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> Graduate Studies:<br />
• Completion <strong>of</strong> a four year honours undergraduate<br />
degree (Masters)<br />
• Completion <strong>of</strong> a Masters degree (PhD)<br />
• Attainment <strong>of</strong> 70% admission average or equivalent (78%<br />
admission average is required to be eligible for funding)<br />
• Two academic letters <strong>of</strong> reference<br />
• International applicants must demonstrate<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in English as stipulated by the <strong>Western</strong><br />
<strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> Graduate Studies<br />

Post Degree Diploma and Certificate Programs<br />
The <strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> serves as the academic home for the following diploma<br />
and certificate programs coordinated by the <strong>Western</strong> Centre for Continuing Studies.<br />
Clinical Trials Management<br />
(Diploma & Certificate)<br />
The pharmaceutical industry and research institutions<br />
both need highly trained pr<strong>of</strong>essionals to manage<br />
clinical trials for new drugs, medical products and<br />
devices. The Diploma and Certificate in Clinical Trials<br />
Management at <strong>Western</strong> provides graduates <strong>of</strong> health<br />
science related programs with the specialized skills,<br />
knowledge and workplace experience they need to<br />
pursue exciting career opportunities in the field <strong>of</strong><br />
clinical trials management.<br />
• Our online classes allow students to work when they have<br />
the opportunity from the comfort <strong>of</strong> their home or <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />
• Instruction is provided by working pr<strong>of</strong>essionals<br />
with solid academic credentials who take an active<br />
interest in students and their career interests.<br />
• Opportunity to complete the program within three<br />
years from time <strong>of</strong> acceptance.<br />
• Four months <strong>of</strong> supervised work experience through<br />
which students develop the competencies necessary<br />
to be leaders in the Clinical Trials field.<br />
• SoCRA accepts the Certificate and Diploma in<br />
Clinical Trials Management as programs eligible to<br />
help clinical researchers qualify for certification.<br />
• The courses are also eligible for CE credit for the<br />
SoCRA recertification program<br />
Occupational <strong>Health</strong> & Safety<br />
Management (Diploma)<br />
The rising costs <strong>of</strong> benefits and medical care has created<br />
a substantial demand within industry for Occupational<br />
<strong>Health</strong> & Safety Managers to protect a company’s bottom<br />
line. With the ultimate goal <strong>of</strong> providing leadership within<br />
the workforce, graduates <strong>of</strong> the Diploma in Occupational<br />
<strong>Health</strong> & Safety Management will be responsible for<br />
using their applied knowledge and practical experience<br />
within the management function.<br />

The Diploma in Occupational <strong>Health</strong> and Safety<br />
Management is designed to enable university graduates<br />
to add practical and applied skills required to work in<br />
the field <strong>of</strong> occupational health and safety management.<br />
Students in this exciting new program will also obtain<br />
valuable work experience through a supervised<br />
workplace placement.<br />
Pedorthics (Diploma)<br />
The pedorthics pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong>fers great career<br />
opportunities to kinesiology graduates. Pedorthists<br />
are certified healthcare pr<strong>of</strong>essionals with specialized<br />
education and training in the care <strong>of</strong> the lower limb.<br />
<strong>Western</strong>’s innovative Diploma in Pedorthics program<br />
provides students with the skills and knowledge required<br />
to write the C.Ped.(C) certification exam, together with<br />
valuable workplace experience.<br />

Sports and Recreation Services<br />
SPORTS AND RECREATION SERVICES is one <strong>of</strong> the most dynamic and popular<br />
departments within the university community. Over 17,000 people per week are<br />
involved in our recreation program and our 38 Mustang teams unite the campus<br />
behind a proud tradition <strong>of</strong> excellence in Canadian university athletic competition.<br />
There are many opportunities to get involved in <strong>Western</strong><br />
Sports & Recreation Services. Varsity teams provide<br />
opportunities for more than 750 student-athletes<br />
to compete in interuniversity sport. Our recreation<br />
programs are open to most students and members.<br />
There are hundreds <strong>of</strong> different intramural teams in a<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> sports for varying levels <strong>of</strong> athletic ability.<br />
<strong>Western</strong> also <strong>of</strong>fers many instructional classes, including<br />
aquatics, sport instruction, dance and yoga courses.<br />
Sports & Recreation Services’ indoor facilities include<br />
gyms, weight rooms, cardio rooms, aerobics studio,<br />
squash and racquetball courts, swimming pools, and<br />
Thompson Recreation and Athletic Centre (ice rink and<br />
indoor track). There are also outdoor facilities including<br />
playing fields for rugby, soccer, field hockey, football<br />
(practice), s<strong>of</strong>tball, an outdoor rink and TD Waterhouse<br />
Stadium (mondo track, astroturf field).<br />
