<strong>Swim</strong>mers participate in the following age groups (determined by their age on June 15 th ):<br />
5-6; 7-8; 9-10; 11-12; 13-14; and 15-18. There will be a maximum 15 swimmers per group with the exception of<br />
the “Sibling Rule.” We will take a new swimmer into an impacted age group as long as they have a sibling joining a<br />
non-impacted age group. As an example—if a family has registered a swimmer in the 7-8 boys group (which has 10<br />
swimmers) and also has a 9-10 girl (which has 15 swimmers) F.H.S.T. will allow the 9-10 girl to join. However, no<br />
age group will be allowed to exceed 16 swimmers regardless of the sibling rule. The only event that will allow an age<br />
group to exceed 16 swimmers is when current members move up in age group.<br />
Kit Club<br />
The Kit Club is a development program for the competitive team. It is designed to help 8 and under swimmers learn<br />
the skills they need to join the competitive team. Kit Club (Kits are baby beavers.) swimmers will consist of all 8 and<br />
under swimmers who are “in training” for competitive swimming. All 8 and under swimmers who are not eligible for<br />
competitive swimming (see above description of eligibility), will be placed in this special three-day-a-week program.<br />
The Kit Club will be considered full at 25 swimmers.<br />
In order for a swimmer to move from the Kit Club program to the regular competitive program, the swimmer must<br />
be able to swim two or more strokes legally for 25 yards without stopping. Strokes are considered “legal” when the<br />
swimmer is not regularly disqualified by stroke and turn judging during <strong>meets</strong>. <strong>Swim</strong>mers in the Kit Club program<br />
will be offered instruction at their level and the opportunity to swim all strokes in intrasquad <strong>meets</strong> and invitational<br />
<strong>meets</strong>, and sometimes freestyle in regular dual <strong>meets</strong>. “Kit Club Meets” will be held on Fridays throughout the<br />
season. Coaches can use these opportunities to help determine whether swimmers are ready to move to the<br />
competitive team. The coaches will make the final determination concerning placement of swimmers.<br />
Parents of Kit Club swimmers are required to work the 3 Kit Club Meets and dual <strong>meets</strong> during the season. Kit Club<br />
Meets are held on Fridays from 11:15-noon. Dual <strong>meets</strong> are held Wednesdays and Saturdays. Ribbons will be<br />
awarded each swimmer participating in a Kit Club meet.<br />
Work Assignments required of Kit Club Parents:<br />
Three Kit club <strong>meets</strong> (Fridays during Kit Club Summer Practice)<br />
Eight swim meet assignments (your swimmer will usually swim at least the last 2 <strong>meets</strong>)<br />

Fees have not been increased from last season. The $35 per family swim-a-thon fee is now included in membership<br />
fees up-front (fund raising activities are no longer required). Donations towards a new timekeeping system are<br />
encouraged. Families with more than four swimmers pay an additional $30.00/child to cover insurance costs.<br />
An additional $50.00 deposit will be collected at registration and returned at the end of the season if all work<br />
assignments are completed and other financial requirements are met.<br />
**Non-<strong>Forest</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> Aquatic Park <strong>Team</strong> Members<br />
<strong>Forest</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> Aquatic Park Pool Board charges FHAP non-members a pool usage fee. This is assessed as an annual<br />
fee. Non-members may NOT use the facilities other than for swim team functions (practice, <strong>meets</strong>, and social<br />
gatherings).<br />
<strong>Swim</strong>mers in the 15-18-age category, who have been swimming for FHST for the three consecutive years before<br />
their 15 th birthday, swim free, with the exception of non-pool members who must pay FHAP pool fees. Parents of<br />
this category swimmer must work the 8 allotted <strong>meets</strong> and fulfill a committee position. This is a change<br />
from last year.<br />
