ContactWEICON Contact Cyanoacrylate Adhesives are coldcuringone-component adhesives, free of solvents. Theyquickly polymerise by reacting with moisture both on thesurfaces to be bonded and from the air, and cure underlight pressure. They will bond within seconds almost all materials toand among each other, such as:• metals• plastics• glass• ceramics• wood• leather• natural and synthetic rubberWEICON Contact Cyanoacrylate Adhesives provide highstructural strength, with a temperature resistance from-50°C (-58°F) to up to +135°C (+275°F) and good levelsof resistance to a lot of chemicals. In many instances, thecured bond joint proves to be harder than the materialof the bonded parts (material fracture).A wide range of product types is available for a varietyof applications. The types differ chemically and by theirviscosity.Ethyl ester based typesDue to the size of the molecules and the resultinganchoring points positioned far from each other, a higherelasticity of the bond joint is achieved. These types arerecommended for bonding plastics and rubber.Alkoxy ethyl based typesAlso with adhesives on this basis there is flexibilityconcerning the curing due to the similar moleculestructure. However, its particular characteristic is itslow odour and, therefore, user-friendly processabilityespecially with assembly line manufacturing. When cured, they are less sensitive to humidity andshould be applied in those instances where the white“blooming” of the bond line is not tolerated for opticalreasons. When using WEICON Contact Cyanoacrylate Adhesives, unlike in the case of welding and soldering, surfacesremain unaltered. No material stress occurs. Thus, more simple and rapid assembly is often possible, andauxiliary fixing devices are not necessary. The resulting advantages are numerous:• enormous time and, therefore, cost savings• immediate on-processing of fixed parts possible• high bond strength up to material fracture• clean and optically appealing bondingsMethyl ester based typesDue to their small molecule structure and closelypositioned anchoring points, these types are less flexibleafter curing. Therefore, they offer particularly goodapplication possibilities for bonding metals.Technical product information, a table showing thevarious different types and basic information oncyanoacrylate adhesives are available on the followingpages.Continuous development and adaptation to the latestdemands based on practical experience and theenvironment guarantee, furthermore, constantly highquality standards.ContentIntroduction Page 2Range of types Page 3-5Bonding of plastics Page 6Activator and surface primer Page 6Technical data Page 7Direction for application, storage andphysiological propertiesPage 8Type selection table Page 8Product variants Page 92
