continuous victories were attained, and the promised land was<br />

divided up among the tribes of Israel. This was followed by a<br />

very gloomy period, “the era of Judges” of which was said, “In<br />

those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was<br />

right in his own eyes” (Judges 21:25). The people turned to the<br />

worship of idols, and did evil in God’s sight. In spite of that,<br />

among those people were those who knew how to attain the<br />

fiery Spirit of God, who gave them power and authority during<br />

the hardest times.<br />

Some of these examples were:<br />

1- Othniel, the youngest son of Kenaz. He was chosen<br />

by God to deliver the people of Israel so “the Spirit of God<br />

came upon him.” He went to war and God delivered Cushan the<br />

king of Mesopotamia into his hand, and peace prevailed on the<br />

land for forty years (Judges. 3:1).<br />

When everyone around you feels discouraged, and lose<br />

hope in salvation and victory, do not consider yourself a loser.<br />

But look up at the Spirit of God, the Giver of victory and<br />

authority, as “God has chosen the foolish things of the world to<br />

put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of<br />

the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the<br />

base things of the world and the things which are despised God<br />

has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing<br />

the things that are” (1 Cor. 1:27-28).<br />

The Jews searched Peter and John, and perceived that<br />

they were “uneducated and untrained men.” They saw the<br />

work of the Holy Spirit in them, as they “realized that they had<br />

been with Jesus”(Act.4:13).<br />

Do not be perturbed by any circumstances surrounding<br />

you, or by your weaknesses; for the Holy Spirit takes what is<br />

Jesus’and gives it to you, “All things that the Father has are<br />

Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it<br />

to you” (John 16:15). Thus, Jesus Christ Himself becomes your<br />
