Snapping, Handing, and Passing the Ball1. All plays must be started by a legal snap; the snap does not have to pass through the legs of the center.2. Players must be at least five yards in from the sidelines or within 15 yards of the ball when the ball issnapped.3. At least 4 (5 Co‐Rec) players must be on their offensive line of scrimmage.4. One offensive player may be in motion, but not in motion toward the opponent's goal line, and the playermust be set before the ball is snapped.5. A fumbled ball is down at the spot where it touches the ground.Scoring1. Touchdowns are worth 6 points (9 if a female scores in a co‐rec game).2. The team scoring the touchdown has the option to attempt a 1, 2, or 3‐point conversion. A try for 1 pointshall be from the 3‐yard line, a try for 2 points shall be from the 10‐yard line, or a try for 3 points from the20‐yard line.3. Mercy rule for men’s and women’s games is 19 points, and 25 for co‐rec gamesConduct of Players1. There shall be no jumping through or over a player unless he/she is lying on the ground.2. The ball carrier shall not deliberately drive or run into a defensive player.3. Teammates of a runner or passer may block for him/her by screen blocking.4. The offensive team shall be prohibited from obstructing an opponent with extended hand or arm. Thisincludes the use of a "stiff arm".5. Ball carriers shall not guard their flags by blocking with arms or hands the opportunity for an opponent topull or remove the flag belt.6. Offense lineman must attempt to move in the direction of the defensive rush and the defense must goaround the offensive players' screen block. Players are not allowed to deliberately run into another playerto gain an advantage.Co‐Rec Games1. A male ball carrier cannot advance the ball through the neutral zone expanded.2. During the offensive team's possession there may not be 2 consecutive legal forward pass completionsfrom a male passer to a male receiver. If a male passer completes a legal forward pass to a male receiver,the next legal forward pass completion must involve either a female passer or a female runner/receiver forpositive yards. The spot where the ball becomes dead by rule must be beyond the teams scrimmage line.There are no restrictions concerning a male passer completing legal forward passes to a female receiver,or female to female, or female to male.FORFEIT/DEFAULT POLICY: Any team not ready to play at game time will forfeit the game. The team captainwill be charged $30 to his/her bursar bill. If a team is faced with a scheduling conflict and/or anticipates aforfeit, they may default the game. For games scheduled on weekdays (Mon. ‐ Fri.) the team captain must callthe Intramural Sports Office NO LATER THAN 3:00 P.M. on the day of the game and for games scheduled onweekends (Sat. ‐ Sun.) the team captain must call NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M. FRIDAY to avoid the forfeit fee.LEAGUE PLAYOFFS: League playoff games will take place immediately after the conclusion of the regularseason. League playoff games shall be scheduled on consecutive days. Captains must notify the programcoordinator of any scheduling constraints a minimum of one week prior to the playoff schedules becomingavailable. CAPTAINS: Each team will designate a player as field captain and he/she is the ONLY person who cancommunicate with the officials. The captain is also responsible for monitoring the behavior of spectatorsaffiliated with his/her teams. Should the spectators become abusive; the captain will be held responsible.Careful reading of the sportsmanship policy at www.MiamiOh/intramural will clarify the captain's role inenforcing sportsmanship.ELIGIBILITY AND ROSTER: Each participant may be listed on only one roster for the entire tournament. Allparticipants are responsible for knowing the rules pertaining to eligibility as outlined in the IM Sports Rules &Regulations Handbook. Captains can add players to the roster during a league or tournament by inviting thatplayer to participate through IMLeagues.com. Players must be listed on the team’s roster and compete in twoleague games to be eligible for league playoffs.AWARDS: The team that wins the tournament will receive Miami University All Campus Championship T‐shirts.
