Since 1951, The University
of Montana Foundation
Clearly
has supplemented tuition,
increased student scholar­
ships and faculty fellowships,
and provided capital reno­
vations and construction
of buildings through fund­
raising from the private sector.
In 2002, the Foundation
turn ed to UM alumni, long­
time friends and its
broader audience, in­state
and beyond, to invest
in making the school even
stronger in its second
century. The Board of Trust­
ees set the goal of the Invest
in Discovery campaign at $100
mil lion, the largest sum
ever targeted by a Montana
nonprofit organization.
Boldly
More than 29,000 supporters
responded, helping the
Foundation surpass its $100
million goal by $31 million.
